More and more, this situation is reminding me of Meg Ryan, Russell Crowe, and Dennis Quaid. Doesn't matter how big a shitbag the man is; the woman is the one who ends up paying. But she's the one that cheated - doesn't that mean she kinda is the shitbag?

Eh, my impression was that no one really cares about her personal drama apart from the LULZ?
Where the side eye comes in is how it started affecting her professional behaviour. Like the fallout with Pugh. As director dating Styles and perhaps favoring him? The Shia LeBeouf trainwreck. Her messy split just became one aspect of a pattern that affected her movie. And I don't think she was condemned for it outside the usual gossip rags? She got critical coverage from more serious publications for her actions on the job.
And then the movie was a mess, which didn't help her reputation, I don't think.

So the difference between then was that she was willing to blow up her family for her cheating while he wanted everyone to pretend they didn't notice what he was doing. I think what we have here with Olivia, Harry and Jason is three self-centered people who ended up in the same orbit.

Sudekis reportedly cheated on her for years. Reportedly? Or rumored? I've never seen anything about him cheating outside of Deux Moi.

But she's the one that cheated - doesn't that mean she kinda is the shitbag? Supposedly Dennis Quaid had been cheating on Meg Ryan for years. But once she cheated, she was crucified. Mostly because it was so public and his were open secrets, I guess.

I’ve mainly only seen criticism of Olivia for her personal life - the end of her relationship with her ex and potential overlap with starting with Harry - from Harry’s extremely vocal stans and some low-level tabloids. (In non Hollywood, non celebrity land, a boss dating a subordinate should receive a raised eyebrow, but she didn’t seem to receive even that from the gossip world. These things happen.) The accusations that she and Harry left the set and Florence Pugh had to direct herself seemed to be brushed aside as fandom nonsense and exaggeration.
Where she has received criticism is, as stated above, for pushing her set policy as “no assholes” / firing Shia yet having him dispute that via video; the speculation that Florence was unhappy and distanced herself post-filming, reinforced by Olivia’s leaked Miss Flo comments; the early reviews that the movie didn’t look too great, etc. And she herself had given interviews that she had been in bad movies so she knew what not to do, and a bad movie reflected on the director.
I think it’s fair to criticize her for these things.

Things really seemed to go south for her publicly when the Shia stuff leaked and he proved that she had said basically the complete opposite to him and that she was not (in those videos) being pro women and anti asshole. Her personal life became the icing on the cake which was already a mess, especially as it allegedly impacted the film and Pugh who is incredibly hot right now.
It's possible that being a woman (and high profile female director) is giving some more fuel to talk about all this than they would with a male director but it's also possible that a theoretical "Oliver Wilde" would be in the middle of a big #MeToo scandal right now for the same behaviour.
It's a shame because the movie had some kernels of really great ideas and a great cast but a hot mess is the only way I can describe it.
