I saw Frozen today with my niece and nephew, they're 9 and 10 years old respectively. I went into the movie with low expectations, but I came out loving it! The music throughout the movie was fantastic, reminded me of the old Disney movies I grew up with like Little Mermaid and Beauty & the Beast where every song was great. Olaf, the snowman, was my favorite character, but I really enjoyed the strength of the two female leads. Here's the trailer. I know the trailer doesn't really show it, but the movie is centered around the relationship of the two sisters.

I'm glad to hear that! I'm going to see this on Monday. No kids, I'm just a Disney freak. The trailers don't look too promising, but I remember the ones for Tangled and Brave being pretty crappy too, and I loved both of those movies.

Saw this last weekend with my sister and nephews. It's a shame that Disney feels like it has to make its trailers overly jokey and "non-girly", but this movie was way better than the trailer indicates. I thought the Olaf character would be irritating, but he was really cute and fun within the context of the story. The design of the backgrounds and costumes was beautiful. The songs, for the most part, weren't at the level of, say, Ashman/Menken, but Elsa's song ("Let It Go") was great and Idina Menzel really sold it. I'm so glad that I saw this with my sis, because it really was a sister story. I was so happy that Spoiler the "true love" that resolved everything was the love between the sisters.

Olaf was totally great, he was the comic relief of the movie. My favorite scene of his was him singing about summer had me laughing as he envisioned himself laying out in the sun to tan. And you're right about the costumes, Elsa when she turned into the Snow Queen (Ice Queen?) was absolutely gorgeous! Sparkly, sexy, but still with a touch of goodness in it. Idina Menzel has one of the most wonderful voices, she may be why I loved the songs so much in the movie.

I didn't see this in 3D because 3D gives me vertigo, but I wish I had.
I admit that I boo hood all through it. #marshmallow
And they got me on the twist, did not see that coming.

I didn't know what to expect going in, either, but it loved it! Let It Go was great and has been running through my head non-stop since. I was very surprised to see that Anna was voiced by Kristen Bell. Did she do the singing also?

Loved, loved, loved this movie... my fascination with Norway might have had a lot to do with that. I thought Olaf would be annoying, but they used him with moderation and he was very funny (though Sven was my favorite!). Borokat, I got weepy a couple of times too. That's why I like 3D, you can cry behind the dark glasses.

I took MissP yesterday. It was pretty good. While I will cop to one unexpected, quiet sobbette, i had a weird experience of tears dripping down my cheek, while feeling no actual emotional response. I actually thought to myself, "Huh, weird. Nothing is happening here, what's with the tears???"
Later last evening, the rest of the cold symptoms showed up....
High point? About 3 minutes into the trailer for "Walk with the Dinosaurs", MissP said, "It's 'Lion King' with dinosaurs!"

I had no idea Kristen Bell could sing, she has a beautiful voice.
I loved that it was all about sisterly love, and that neither of them got married. They totally lampshaded the "getting married after one day" trope and it was awesome. It kind of made me wish I had a sister.

I agree, in fact I sorta wish they wouldn't have even made Hans a villain and Anna would have just been like "Umm, actually, wait, we don't know each other well enough to get married..." But I guess that wouldn't have been very exciting viewing, and plus they needed to have a bad guy.
