The worst/best thing about this is that it's original material and I'm watching it as it's shown, so I can't snoop and find a spoiler to figure out what's next like I did with my viewings of Game of Thrones and Hannibal.

I don't know, Bklynred. I will have to ask him. He wants to watch the next one but usually does it at bedtime and apparently that was not the best idea. I have thought that McConealrightalrightalright was destined for great things since A Time to Kill. I always wondered why he was slumming in the romcoms when he was better than that. I thought that it was just for the $$$. I've always wondered that too. He was so good in A Time to Kill, and then he went on and did nothing but crap for so many years. Which is why I'm so happy the McConnaissance is happening.

I just finished watching episode 5 and I'm so in love with the show, too. Matthew is suburb and Woody isn't too bad, either. It's almost like The X-Files, but without the SciFi and then mixed in with all those other in-depth whodunit shows. Plus, you get that lovely T-Bone Burnett background music that gives it even more appeal. My actual whodunit theory is completely based on an actor who played a part early in the season. And I think it was either the first or second episode that sealed the deal on who I think the true killer is, too. I could be totally off, but I think I've watched so many shows and read so many books that are in the same genre that it always makes me look for a certain someone. Doesn't totally ruin it for me though, because the show is dark enough that it's pulled me in to confirm my suspicions. ALREADY AIRED 'SPOILERS'/EPISODE DISCUSSION {Spoiler}I had a feeling from the first episode that the two FBI agents (I assume that's what they are because Rust called them "Company Men") were going to accuse Rust of being the real killer. I'm hoping that Marty will re-team with Rust and get him to clean up so he doesn't look so hard and they get back out doing some digging on the side.
Did anyone else predict that the killer that Rust was interviewing after they thought they caught the killer was going to wind up suddenly dead? I knew that when he started to say that "Big people" knew about this case and he was revealing the "Yellow King" and they stopped him from revealing any more, he'd be out for the count. I think the women back at the hillbilly bunny ranch will know more about it, IMO. Can't wait for Sunday!

Damn. I was expecting a Maggie/Rust hookup but I did not expect it to be so...cold. Rust was drunk but he could have stopped it if he really wanted to. I think he's been attracted to her or at least a bit envious of Marty's home life since the beginning.
I have no clue where things are headed. Tuttle is obviously a huge suspect but he might just be a red herring.

Tuttle is obviously a huge suspect but he might just be a red herring. When I watched that Maggie/Rust hookup, or whatever that was, I always reverse the genders in my mind. I don't like what Maggie did; to me, she took advantage of Rust. She could see that he wasn't in the right frame of mind, and I think Rust always did have a little crush on her. If Maggie wanted some tender loving, she certainly did NOT get it from Rust. She looked kind of shocked, and it wasn't cool for her to tell Marty, I mean Marty's a douchebag, but why involve Rust in their marriage. Rust once told Marty that he didn't want to hear about his marital problems, but he got dragged right into it anyway. And how shitty a detective is Marty that when Maggie told him she slept with Rust, he immediately believed her. Someone with a brain would have asked Rust first and then tried to kick is butt (to me Marty got his ass kicked and Rust really didn't do much), I mean Marty doesn't seem that hard to fool. Marty probably believed Maggie because when you're a cheater, you think that everybody else must be cheating too.

Oh I totally agree that Maggie took advantage of Rust and it was gross to watch. It was not how I expected their hookup to go down. On another message board someone pointed out that Maggie's technique in getting Rust to sleep with her was a little like Rust's techniques in getting a confession from a suspect. I am really intrigued by all the gender politics in this show.
I think Marty immediately believed that Maggie slept with Rust because he knows she's an honest person, unlike himself.

I'm always craving more from this show. Last week's show was more about catching us up to 'present day'...but tonight's was a little creepy at the end.
Next week seems like it should be the one that starts to put this ball in motion.

I think we've talked and analyzed this show more than anything else we've ever watched.

That ending was so creepy! "My family--" "Yeah, whatever, thanks." Dumb cops.
I liked them showing MM's physique when he was in his storage shed. And for once, not shallow reasons! It signified yes, he's been living hard but he's still lean & ready. Marty OTOH...
ETA: Does anyone else read James Lee Burke? He writes about the mob, race & crime in Louisiana. It's so rich in history, traditions and yeah, creepy sh*t, it's a wonderful character on its own when used right.

There is so much going on in this show I can't keep track of it all. Have we seen the lawnmower man before?
I'll be interested to see if my theory about who might be in on the "cult" pans out.
