My sister's tv would do that but only during Jay Leno and it was in Spanish. It was so weird.

In the thread for the latest episode of Vanderpump Rules two posters are getting into it with each other over ironing hair. And whether one can flat iron damp hair without losing all their hair. It is just bizarre. For those who want to see the details. hold on to your hair!(I did a load of laundry, shoveled snow, trimmed my nails and the cat's nails, and I don't want to clean the bathroom. So I'm slumming in the VP threads as a way to procrastinate.)

Lol at the experienced hairstylists... And doctors part. Yeah. I'm real sure doctors care and have weighed in about how you iron you hair.

Oh yeah, the doctors part was unique. I guess a doctor might tell someone to avoid electrocuting themselves by mixing damp hair and live appliances...

No guys, it's totally true. I went in to see my doctor and right after we talked about my family history of cancer, he asked if I ever flat ironed my hair when it was damp. I admitted I did, and he gave me some pamphlets.

I think I need to have Previously.tv blocked from my browser. I've turned into one of those people who needs to post in every single thread in a certain topic. But in my defense, there is a supremely irritating person with poor grammar who also posts often, so I feel compelled.

I'm always surprised at how the reality shows tends to bring out the most intense responses from posters. Maybe my surprise is because of how quiet the TV section is here, comparatively, but it's always a bit puzzling/distressing when I visit Previously and see just how angry and insistent the posters get about various people on these reality shows (Bravo ones, for example), when it's been more or less confirmed that much of what we see is scripted.
The Real Housewives threads are particularly strange to me. The OC ones are especially strange with posters gleefully proclaiming when a HW has blocked them on social media and also tracking Tamra Barney's every move and trying to get her gym business in trouble. It's just bizarre to me. And I don't even like the woman.
I recently popped into the Dance Moms area to see what viewers of the show had to say about the girl from the Sia videos, and I was floored by the parenting police in those threads who insisted the girl is a victim of pedophilia and how dare her mother allow her to be victimized.
Look, I'm not saying people who appear on reality shows aren't without their issues (cuz, duh), but I just don't get the level of pearl-clutching all these posters engage in. If it's such a problem, and these shows are casting such a pall over society... WHY DO YOU WATCH THESE SHOWS IN THE FIRST PLACE?

I was just reading through the discussion of the latest episode of Elementary and the number of people making a fuss over the British pronunciation of zebra was stunning. Especially those who had their knickers in a twist over no one in the show commenting directly to Sherlock about his pronunciation. Just because you live in an insular world and freak out over a different pronunciation doesn't mean the show needs to bow to your thinking. Sorry, I guess it's a bit of a peeve to draw attention to someone's accent.

I once knew a guy on SSI mental disability who was obsessed with the way people pronounced words. Obsessed! It was one of his many "quirks" and one of the primary things that kept him from being able to form relationships. This was pre-internet. I don't know where he is now or what he's doing (thankfully), but it wouldn't surprise me to learn that he's become an internet troll who occasionally finds himself at home in certain cyber communities.

Heh, the very first thing American Captain Jack Harkness says on Torchwood is "Ee-e-e-e-e-estrogen!". He claims he can taste it in the rain, whatever. And he really draws out the first E, and pronounces it as a long E, as the British do. I figure the writers didn't know, or Captain Jack is American but he has been there long enough that he pronounces Estrogen Britishly. Anyway, that was 7 years ago, or so, and I've been able to move on and think about other things. Thank god!
