I recorded the 20/20 but did manage to stay awake for the first half of it. Really interesting to hear Woodward and Bernstein talk about it, but the thing that really stood out to me was, geez louise, when they were talking about Nixon and his delusions and power trips and criticism of the media, it was exactly the way Trump is behaving. Are you old enough to remember the old SNL skit with Dan Ayckroyd as Nixon, melting down under the eyes of all the portraits on the White House walls? I frequently picture Trump going down that road.

With John Belushi as Kissinger and Madeline Kahn narrating as a tipsy Pat Nixon? Who could forget?!

This is cool... the Library of Congress has uncovered some steamy text that Alexander Hamilton wrote to his then-fiancee Elizabeth. The censorship may have been done posthumously by Hamilton's son.

On this day in Ireland 34 years ago a 15 yr old girl died along with the son she gave birth to alone at a grotto her name was Ann Lovett An article from a few years back with samples of letters wriitten to National Radio show at tthe time in Ireland.
Ann and her story imprinted on barely teenage me and I've never forgotten her, her story is only one of too too many tragic stories out Ireland and changes to our laws won't help them in any way but they will never be forgotten. In an ireland in one sense very different Ann Lovett is trending on twitter today in Ireland rightly so, but in another sense nothing has changed at all, maybe Ireland of Jan 31 2019 on Ann's 35th anniversary will look very different for the Women of Ireland.

Nuns!! Reverse!!A poignant day, February 28th for Irish comedy and Father Ted fans. 20 years ago today the brilliant Dermot Morgan(Ted) left us, having just finished what became the final series of Father Ted, with Ted Dermot found acclaim in UK and further. He had been notoriously brilliant in Ireland for years before. 2 years ago today the equally brilliant Frank Kelly(Jack) left us as well. Kelly goes back even further in Irish tv and comedy. He made Jack his own. To both men, Thank you for so much laughter for so long. Edit to add Lovely article written by Dermot son Don I couldn't stop thinking myself of my own folks gone and what they make of the world too if they wandered back here! Also a little something for Frank Kelly Top of the Pops no idea when Gobnet O Loonasey Christmas Countdown (it is snowy out!)
