Seeing a bunch of tweets about family members who were part of the Normandy invasion.
Still hard to get my head around those men getting off those boats, knowing what they were facing.

The late Star Trek actor James Doohan was an officer in the Canadian Forces and participated in the storming of Juno Beach. He was wounded, and lost a finger. |

At the war museum in Ottawa they have an exhibit where you walk in and you're on the back of those boats with real movie footage on a big screen in front of you. It really gave a sense of what it must have felt like and I can't imagine them running off that boat and into the madness.
