Quoting myself, no more maybes, Ireland 2019 will be different, tho we wait for all the legislation to be put in place it feels different, better, safer already. Rest easy Ann. Its different today not perfect but certainly very different to 35 yrs ago and even from last year. Thinking of those who knew Ann and all the Ann’s and their lonely stories. I can never forget Ann Lovett and her son, and as tragic as are our times now, I still can’t let her go today, is her day. She should be in her fifties now and her son his thirties,... May they and their families have peace and know while still imperfect towards its women this island is trying to do its best, not always succeeding, but trying...

For those who watch Derry Girls that final scene in Series One while never saying for sure the exact moment it might be reflecting everyone here had one moment in mind. Omagh, 15th August 1998We thought this sort of news might have been no more after The Good Friday Agreement signed April the same year, I’d gone from visiting family in NI the week before and had stopped briefly on way to somewhere in Omagh to being in the UK for a friends party, It struck me what a difference a week can be and how close yet so far you can be from horror. To the families and all in Omagh and nearby communities nothing but love and hope.

50 years today since Bloodly Sunday happened in Derry, 14 civil rights marchers shot by the Para regiment of the British Army which led then to the decades known as The Troubles. I’ve read plenty today. This piece by Aoife Moore a niece of one killed that day.is well worth a read. Choosing not to hate over Bloody Sunday as hate eats at your heart

I have a 2008 Honda Odyssey minivan that I have been driving since it was new. I don't really drive a lot lately, but today I headed to our local 7-11 type store to fill up.
$78.78.
Fortunately, it will take me quite a while to need the next fill-up, but DAMN, y'all!

CW: murder, explicit language in link below I don’t know if we have many hip-hop/rap aficionados on the boards, but today would’ve been the 50th birthday of Christopher Wallace (a.k.a Notorious B.I.G.). It’s sad to contemplate that due to a stupid rap beef, he didn’t live to see his 25th birthday because of an officially unsolved murder. R.I.P. Biggie.

I think it's shameful that murder was NEVER solved. Who swept it under the rug, and why? It's like the Jimmy Hoffa of the rap world.
I learned something new last night. From a French documentary about Louis the 14th (the Sun King) I learned that during the French revolution, rioters opened the crypt containing the tombs of the past kings, destroyed the coffins and carvings, exhumed the bodies, then buried them all in a mass grave! Louis' body freaked them out especially because it was intact and well preserved, but totally blackened, as if giving them a rebuke. Today all the royal bodies that were desecrated are buried together in an ossuary. But the hearts of the kings are all embalmed and kept together in another church, and their internal organs, in still another!
