Very sad how this dog suffered. I found a Dec 2017 update to this story from TMZ:

Anna sent a $5,000 check to Kinder4Rescue earlier this month for giving away Pete the Chihuahua she shared with hubby Chris Pratt...without notifying the rescue org.

Pete apparently escaped or was thrown out of his adoptive home and surfaced on the streets looking like skin and bones. A microchip led Kinder4Rescue back to Anna, and the org demanded the $5k penalty she agreed to pay if she gave the dog away without prior notification.

Pete's still hangin' at Kinder4Rescue...in search of a new home.

It's sad cuz I used to like both of them a lot - I was so disappointed (and quite frankly shocked) when I first heard about it.

They didn't strike me as the type of people to neglect their pet... then again I probably wouldn't expect that of most celebrities.

I had read they did the same thing (something similar?) to a cat a year or so ago.

ETA: Yep- it was a cat, but it was several years ago. And the cat was old, feeble, and prone to "accidents"- so he tried to give it away on Twitter. (Yeah- I sure bet it got a great home for those last few months of its life- what animal lovers these two are). Gross gross gross. I have a special place in my hatred compartment for people who discard animals.

I just read the cat story, SOB! Why do these people get pets? He explained that they were TRYING to start a family, TRYING, they didn't even have a baby yet. And because they were TRYING they couldn't have a cat that craps all over the house. And basically, if you get upset about it you're crazy because it's just a CAT. Screw him. I really was looking forward to Guardians of the Galaxy 2:(

Yep- here's part what he said (after people all over the place called him out for being an asshole for trying to abandon his cat via twitter):
"If you are a parent you will understand. And if not, that probably explains why you have such a hard on for cats. Just sayin'."
... Sure hope his wife or kid never goes through any illness that inconveniences his life (like- I don't know- his wife getting old) Kinda hard to get rid of them via Twitter. ... Just sayin.

P.S Chris- I know lots and lots of parents who also have the ability to take care of an animal that is part of their family (even- well, I would hope especially- as it gets old). Lots and lots of people who think it is vile to abandon your family (which pets are) ... If you weren't an asshole you'd understand. Just sayin'

I've had to rehome a pet and it was really devastating. So I'm sympathetic to the fact that it happens - but the fact that it happened twice here, and that he was so flippant about the cat, is really fucked up.

Fortunately, there are enough other people in GOTG2 that I like that I'm still excited about seeing it despite him being in it. And with her, I can still watch Mom because my love for Allison Janney will never die (don't ANYBODY say anything bad about Allison Janney now, I mean it!)

My dad had to rehome one of our dogs after my mother died and it was incredibly painful for him. He worked hard to choose the right home and the right people. He didn't go on freaking Twitter and act like it was the dog's fault dad couldn't take care of him- and it was couldn't, not wouldn't. Pratt sounds like he just can't be bothered to care for an animal. He needs to grow the hell up and do what is best for the animal, not his spoiled snotty useless self.

What a schmuck.

Also, my mom raised two kids and did animal rescue. Just sayin'.

My dog who I adopted from the pound was a total disaster (stubborn, didn't listen to direction, etc). Did I ever consider giving her away or taking her back to the pound? Never. She was MY little disaster and I had her for 11 wonderful yrs till she passed. Fuck Chris and Anna. Fuck them both.
