No such luck, as she has a band field trip tomorrow. I think she'll go to class, where I will strongly hint to the teachers that maybe they want to wrap it up by 9, then we will watch. Luckily she is sax, not percussion, so if she falls asleep hopefully no one notices .

That was like... a season's worth of plot developments in two hours. I never thought Hakeem would emerge as the son I least wanted to slap, but here we are.

I love this show but the direction on these last two episodes was weird as hell. The first episode had too many jump cuts, I couldn't tell whether scenes were in the same day or same week or what. Second episode everything felt like a dream sequence.

I'm excited for the 2nd season though.

Unfortunately I know about ALS. My mother died from it.She slurred her words,didn't lose her voice. No blurry vision and no shaky hands...just weakness.I'm happy Lucious will be around a while. I love to hate him.
The first hour was the best.So many WTF moments. Hakeem's rap to his dad was fantastic. then the punch.My absolute favorite scene/segment was when Lucious and Jamal went to the old house.Reliving the memory of the trash can(Most heartbreaking moment)and then the song they wrote and sang.That scene was amazing.The two actors played off each other so well.I can't express how much I loved that scene and song. I wonder if Terrence really played the guitar. If he did, he's really good.
Great season finale.I can't wait until Fall.

I looove the pacing on this show. So fast! I can't wait for the fall -- I assume they'll be back on in the fall right?!

I don't know why but Jamal really bugs me. I think it's the falsetto voice. :/

TH really can play the guitar, sing and rap. I can't stand him as a person, and I'm still conflicted because Empire made me like him. Damn you Empire!

I LOVE this show! Unlike most, Cookie while one my favorites, is very flawed and not smart. Jamal is my favorite Lyon. Andre, and Hakeem disappointed me Wednesday with their lack if support, so did Cookie. How hard is it to support Jamal? It's not like he was being mean or doingsomething wrong. To turn against him, and work with Anika (I spit when I type her name!) all because Lucious picked Jamal is downright silly. Andre doesn't surprise me, Hakeem should know better considering the fact that he can't perform well without Jamal.

There were so many great one liners, my favorites.

I'm team Lucious. Cookie, Cookie, Cookie, I can't support you and your none support for your son. You sold out by backing Tricky's grandson. I give you a high five for not snitching. You need to get your shit in order. Next time girlfriend, never piss off ANYONE until you have signed papers in hand. You should've left Malcolm and his stupid hairdo, and even stupider part in the middle of his head, alone. He was a waste of time. That trip to the Berkshires cost you your company. Also, NEVER talk shit, throw a drink, and then turn your back....girl you know better!

I know! I was so disappointed in Cookie for turning her back on Anika- And the cat fight that was always brewing was actually fairly anti-climactic once it finally happened- Esp. since they ended up on the same side. (Which... WERID!)

But this show- So much TV Goodness, I felt like I needed a cigarette afterwards (And I don't smoke) Is it wrong that I'm pretty much Team Everybody? Luscious is pure evil and yet I can't help but root for him.

Jamal's still my favorite, though I don't think pulling a Suge Knight and making Judd Nelson his Vanilla Ice as well as his bitch suits him. (Schooling Black Rambo in a mic battle seems more Jamal's true nature) But I get what he's doing in a way. Gaining Luscious's love and approval has been his life goal for... well his whole life. Now he's finally got it- or so Lusicious is letting him think. So he's got to stoop to Luscious's level to keep it... or so Luscious would have him believe. I get Jamal suddenly acting this way because it's very real. It's not very smart- but it's a very real reaction to a neglected child growing up with a Daddy like Luscious. Luscious is one of those people who can wield power by how much love and attention they give or withhold. He's withheld his love and approval for so long from Jamal that all he has to do is give him a little taste of it and Jamal- sadly, is HIS bitch. He was his bitch from the moment he opened up that gift box and pulled out that (Ugliest Bling Ever!) Lion Septer (Hot Damn that thing was ugly though!)

And Hakeem and Andre aren't necessarily turning on Jamal for anything Jamal has done. It's because he now had what they too have been scrambling for their whole lives- Daddy's love and approval. Luscious handing Jamal the (UGGGGGGLLLLLLLY) Lion/Lyon Baton is like Jacob giving Joseph a Coat of Many Colors... so his brothers instantly want to tear him down and toss him in a well... or in this case launch a hostile take-over to destroy both their bro and their Daddy. And Luscious should have expected nothing less- but he was too caught up in feeling invincible again and thought his gifts of (also UGLY) bling to his other sons would be enough.

I will say though, as much as I needed to avert my eyes from the Ugly Bling, I fell out of my chair in complete love with this show forever and ever when Cookie opened her present and got A PILLOW!!!!! AHHHHHHHHH!!!! TV PERFECTION!!! They could have easily ended the whole season with Cookie standing over Lusious with that pillow. But of course, OF COURSE he knew. Now, talking in his sleep might be a bit contrived (Like, sending Naomi away and she suddenly loses the ability to contact Hakeem in any way whatsoever) But I loved Bunky's Ghost sitting on the end of the bed taunting him. LOVED IT! It was so Macbeth-like for a show that's supposed to be based on King Lear. And then you have Cookie instantly getting her Juliet on to wail 'Wherefore villain didst thou kill my Cousin!!'... And then try to suffocate said villain with a pillow!

The only thing I'm sad about is now they've offed Vernon. I had high hopes for him and thought he and Andre would get back to their secret plans- which what they were originally plotting I guess now we'll never know. Thanks a bunch, Rhonda! And hey where is Vernon now? Did they chuck him in the same river as Bunky? Is he walled up in their apartment? Are they going to take him out Weekend at Bernie's style so he can testify against Luscious? ('Quick Rhonda! Staple his brains back in! I'll glue this pen to his hand so we can have him sign the affidavit!')

I'm pretty sure Luscious will walk. Walk and be ready to stomp anyone in his path. And it will be GLORIOUS!!!! It will also be interesting to see how the united force of Cookie/Anika/Andre and Hakeem stands or falls. I don't know if Cookie has turned on Jamal so much as, well Luscious is out to destroy her and she has to destroy Luscious first. A hostile takeover of Empire is the only way she can hurt Luscious... but that means hurting Jamal because he's currently in Luscious's pocket. She seemed pretty torn up about it- but she can't let Luscious win. Not after 17 YEARS!!!!! (and a dead cousin). Plus, I loved her sweeping around Hakeem with the Broom Handle as she was laying out her plans! BWAH HA HA!! I think I might be Team Broom Handle when it's all said and done. Team Broom Handle or Team Pillow! (Never Team Ugly Bling though)

I'll miss Empire while it's gone, and can't wait to see what schemes everyone will have up their sleeves when it returns.

P.S. Is Snoop Dogg back to being Snoop Dogg again? 'Cause I finally got used to Snoop Lion. Or did he drop that for the show so there wouldn't be any confusion that he was Snoop LYON- long lost Bastard Son of Luscious (And hey wait... why DIDN'T they go in that direction!! :-)!!)
