Her story is that she married a pompous author/semi-celebrity who's been known for years for his pretentious, "deep" bullshit. He's very very full of himself. The only upside to this insane development is that the media has been all over it with sarcasm and witty remarks. It's really incredible how pointless this whole thing is. Reading the web site to the "school" gave me a headache. It's just a bunch of fancy words covering up for endless amounts of nothing. To put it mildly, she seems a bit half cracked. She is very pretty but sounds like a lost hippy from another generation. Thank goodness she is not heir to the throne.

I saw this headline the other day, but the story only stated she was dating an American. I was like, "Okay." Then I saw the picture that went along with the article and went, "Huh. I wonder does she know." But then I read further, and saw that he is openly bi-sexual, so I brushed it off and went back to scrolling. It's 2019, and I'm open to all pairings. I just hate being that person sometimes. It's just ingrained in me. It's what I always think when I see what the world considers an odd coupling. She's dating a black, bi-sexual, shaman, from America. This should displace Meghan Markle as the tabloids favorite punching bag for a while. |

I get it--the only thing that really raised an eyebrow was the detail about being a shaman--and I read elsewhere that he's a Goop darling. The shaman part just set me off because it's a specific label and has precise cultural meanings, and what he's doing doesn't really fit those paradigms. I mean, sure, healer or bringer or light or whatever. Otherwise, good for Martha Louise. I hope they both find the happiness they seek. |

I know people who are shamans and have no problem with that part. It's the link with jade eggs and vaginal steaming that makes me feel kind of side-eye-ish.

For lack of deeper thinking from me, it’s the claim to be a shaman + jade eggs= not a shaman. I have anthropological goggles on when it comes to the topic, so my bias is pretty deep. |
