Whether it’s handmade, bought, sweet, savory, minced, humble or in the sky…there’s a reason your mouth is called a pie hole.
Sadness cannot exist in the presence of pie. Obsess about the perfect meal dessert here.

A pie thread? OMG! Perfect time to announce that I bought a lemon, butter, and chocolate cream tarts (tarts are mini-pies, right?) at the farmers market today. They were photo worthy but I couldn't resist them long enough to break out the camera.

Okay now, being true to my word, I just finished making 5 pies, 4 blueberry and 1 key lime (not enough blueberries for 5 pies). This is on top of the 9 strawberry rhubarb and 1 pumpkin I made on Thursday.
I think that is a record for me.
I have a good pie story. My friend Mike and I have a pie economy. He takes me to the airport, I give him pie. He shovels the driveway, I give him pie. He helps me stretch a canvas, I give him pie. One day as I was prepping, I noticed I had just a few pie tins. Now Mike is always complaining that we have a pie imbalance. He always thinks that I owe him pie.
Thinking that he might have a few pie tins at his house from prior payment, I asked him if he could check and see if he had some items there before I went to the store and bought more.
Yes, he did. He had FOURTEEN of my pie tins. And it had only been 5 months since I last raided his house for my tins.
Pie imbalance my ass.....

Pie economy. I love it.
We have something of pie psychology in my house. Whenever my husband or I apologizes for anything, it's accompanied by pie. Whenever we hit a goal, we reward it with pie. Whenever we're having a bad day, the other comes home with pie. Pie is love.
Since we had a sad death in our family on Wednesday, I have had no appetite. Hubby brought a lovely cherry pie from Citarella on his way home from work yesterday. It's the only thing I've been able to eat in three days. So yes, pie is magical and healing and just an entire class of superfoods on its own.

I prefer pie to cake. So much so. But it has to be fruit. Any kind of fruit, really. I cannot, however, abide chocolate or banana cream pies.
(I was just gonna say "cream pies" but then I realized how nasty that sounded.)

Mmmmm...Chocolate Silk Pie from Baker's Square. I don't know what they do to their chocolate, but it's so good! I've never been able to duplicate it.

I just made a peanut butter pie for a coworker's birthday. It was not cream, but instead closer to a dense pecan-type filling. It was amazing.
I'm pretty indiscriminate when it comes to pie. My favorite right now is buttermilk but I also like molasses and blueberry. Raisin pie scares me because of the reconstituted raisin issue.
I love pie!

Damn, now I'm hungry for pie! Cake is my preferred dessert, but to be honest, I'm always going to be happy with pie, as well. I don't make pie that often, but I went through a phase of making chess pie three or four times in a row, the last time I did. Yum! I will always love my dad's apple pie, but I have to say that the Dutch apple pie is a thing of outstanding beauty. It's a totally different crust than what I think of as pie crust. It's almost cake-like and good enough to eat on it's own, even without the filling. A Dutch university student contacted me last Christmas, wanting to interview me for an English course she was taking, and as a thank you for me doing the interview, she brought a warm-from-the-oven apple pie that was divine and massive. I may have eaten most of it, rather than sharing with the boyfriend and his visiting mother.
