I have to admit that the Duggars sort of fall off my radar in between Josh-related scandals. Have any of the children managed to truly break free from the grips of Duggar-dom and establish a genuinely independent life and identity?

I have to admit that the Duggars sort of fall off my radar in between Josh-related scandals. Have any of the children managed to truly break free from the grips of Duggar-dom and establish a genuinely independent life and identity? Jill is the only one. I don’t know if she and her husband are estranged from all the siblings, but they’re definitely estranged from Jim Bob, and I believe he doesn’t allow them to come over to the house. It happened because Jill and Derrick never got paid for any of their time on the show, Jim Bob secretly negotiated with TLC and kept all the money. Jill is a little more liberal now too, she drinks alcohol and her kids go to public schools.

Jinger and her husband live in LA, but I don't know how much they keep in contact with the Arkansas family. They only have 2 kids, so I think maybe they are not as fundie as the rest of the family.

Just looked at a bunch of the family's IG accounts. Radio silence, except for Jinger and her husband, who both have the following:
"We are disturbed to hear about the charges against Josh. While this case must go through the legal system, we want to make it clear that we absolutely condemn any form of child abuse and fully support the authorities and judicial process in their pursuit of justice."

Jim Bob and Michelle's statement-
They don't seem that surprised and resigned to the outcome. I truly hope Anna sees the light and can get support in disconnecting from this family.

Just the other day Anna was defending him being a good provider. Well the provider is prison and she has six kids and is pregnant. She better figure out a way she is going to be supporting all those kids. The feds have him now. With his all his past drama child pornography isn’t really shocking. Lock him up and throw away the key. The only way to ensure it seems she doesn’t hit double digit kids like her mother in law.

Jill and Derick released a statement as well.
Honestly, I can't blame the other Duggars (the siblings, not Jim Bob and Michelle) for not knowing what to do or what to say. Especially the four (that we know of!) sisters who are his victims. Joy in particular was five...something tells me that it was not the first time he did that to her. I cannot believe they exploited her to get the reports thrown away after they were released to the public.
Given how they were brought up, I'm not sure that many of them have the words to know what to say. They were taught that it was the five girls faults' that Josh had "slipped in his path to god" and while this is clearly a whole other ball game...they may logically know that but not know what type of statement is appropriate to make. Jinger and Jeremy's statement was decent -- and it was "liked" by John and Abbie, Claire (Justin's new wife), Joe and his wife Kendra, and her parents. That is a small step towards acknowledgment and acceptance of reality, but it is probably a gigantic one for people raised IBLP.
Anna needed to leave during scandal #2, if not after #1 came into the public's eyes.

I don’t know how Anna will be financially or even physically able to leave. She has no education, no bank account (and the Feds have likely frozen any accounts in his name), she’s pregnant and she’s brainwashed. I hope her family can support her since it seems like some of her sisters have gotten out.

Yeah, I am just sorry for the sisters, because they have this all boiling up again, and I'm willing to bet that none of them have ever gotten any real therapy outside of maybe Jill (which is a shocker, but she seems to have escaped/been kicked out but it's still better for her.) I'm sure not going to blame them for not wanting to talk about it publicly.

I hope her family can support her since it seems like some of her sisters have gotten out. Anna actually is the one holding the assets IIRC. I believe that they (or most of them) were transferred into her name at some point. I think that two sisters and a brother have gotten out -- the brother is the one who offered to help her. She needs to think of her children and not herself and her marriage at some point. The marriage is essentially over. He'll never be able to come home. Jill has been seeing a real (licensed) therapist. I've seen the responses from those who spoke out -- to me they seem fine based on the fact that they came from sheltered women raised in a fundamentalist sect who are likely only speaking out in an attempt to get people to leave them alone because they are being harassed for comments in their comments sections on their social media. What do you say when your family member gets arrested for something like this? I would probably say things that were not the best things to say too. I see people on other websites complaining about Jessa's statement and I want to shake them: we all know that these sects teach their children that all sins are on the same level, so of course her statement is awkwardly written. This was clearly a shock. I think that they assumed the raid was either a non-issue or some sort of fiscal issues and were blindsided by the fact that it was CSA.
