Considering Fern’s oldest brother is named Spurgeon, as a (hateful) reminder that Catholics and other denominations aren’t “true Christians,” I’d say she did alright.

Seriously I’m still so confused why they named their first child Spurgeon Elliot and then followed up with Henry, Ivy, and Fern. Whyyyyy not Elliot Spurgeon.

Yeah, Spurgeon definitely got the short end of the stick in regard to names. I mean, at least he has Elliot to fall back on.

I think she's copying one of the Bates daughters who has 2 babies named Willow and Hazel. I've always had a soft spot for Fern b/c of Charlotte's Web, but I think Willow and Ivy or Hazel and Fern make better sibling names.

Josh's trial started yesterday. This bit from Jim Bob's testimony about Josh's earlier crimes against his sisters made me so mad.

On the stand, however, Jim Bob said he couldn't recall many of the details. And when prosecutor Carly Marshall brought him the police report — apparently still watermarked with In Touch's logo — he complained about the tabloid connection.

"I'm not gonna allow it. Are you gonna allow for that?" Jim Bob asked the [FEDERAL] judge with his hands raised as the judge reminded him, "If there is [an] objection to be made, someone will make it but it won't be you."

Still, Jim Bob said, "For you guys to use a tabloid to bring it back up is very unprofessional."

The judge offered some sympathy: "Mr. Duggar, I recognize this is perhaps a very unfair position that you're placed in and I appreciate that."

But the judge told him, "This is not a debate."

What an entitled POS! Oh, and he's running for state senator while his son is on trial for CP. Cannot stand this piece of crap. He's continuing to protect his son at the expense of his daughters, who were actual SA victims. I hope the judge does not "offer sympathy" and kowtow to these people.

He can't recall the details of his daughters being molested by his son? Oh, do fuck off, Jim Bob.

Update- the judge will allow testimony of Josh's past abuse to be allowed into evidence. This means their former family friend Bobbye and possibly Jill will testify against Josh. The girls Josh abused may finally see some justice for what he did to them because this testimony will only help send him to jail.

Here's hoping this creep does serious time. Too bad Daddy won't go to prison for enabling him.
