From the RU website:
"The addict is protected from the elements of life...."
Uh, I think that's what got Josh into trouble in the first place.

Josh is the result of - pardon my cliche - the perfect storm of situations: - He is the oldest child, who is often the one parents learn on, for lack of a better phrase. - He is the family's crown prince, which can cause issues in lots of families. He is the special one because he is male. - He has a huge family, meaning his parents were too busy making more siblings and raising them to focus much on one child. - He was raised to believe that males are superior to females, thus their needs are more important. - He was on TV, which raised his level of self-importance even more. - His father called the shots and controlled everything, even for his grown children, so it created a sense of invincibility. - He was taught that anything sexual was shameful and must be kept secret. This even extended to normal non-sexual acts like hugging. - He was told that the internet and TV were evil instruments of the devil, even though their family used both to earn money and self-promote. The hypocrisy is confusing to kids.
Any of these things happen in families all the time - parents are hypocrites about some stuff, they're too controlling, they elevate one child over the others, they're sexist. But put it all together? Josh's downfall is no big surprise.

This is an excellent essay that lays out the mindset regarding sexuality Josh had to deal with while growing up and it's easy to see how he turned out the way he did. My Ex Was Raised Like Josh Duggar and He Turned Out The SameDisclaimer: I think he still would have been a douchebag fratboy creeper had he been raised in a normal family but being a Duggar amplified his problems 1000-fold.

two family members of the disgraced former 19 Kids and Counting star are speaking out exclusively to ET. But only anonymously. One of them talk about growing up with him, so it could be Amy or maybe her parents. The only siblings who could have the freedom to contact the media would be Jessa or Jill, but the first set of statements don't sound like they came from either of them. John David is also a possibility. He seems to have the freedom to roam and be by himself (sweet solitude is a rarity for a Duggar), and he would be more likely to use an expression like "caught with his hand in the cookie jar." That sounds like something Jill would say. Jessa doesn't get heartbroken, she gets angry.

I actually don't care if Josh gets help. If it's related to their "church" it won't be helpful in any real constructive way. He will be continually validated no matter what he does. Anna and their kids are the ones who need help - out of his house and out from under his thumb! I realize it's a prison of her own making but she doesn't know anything else.

I'll add to that list, Mugsy: - He was basically told who he was going to marry - Neither his wife or him have enough experience with sex (now that it is allowed) to truly bond as a team. He's getting his rocks off but I bet she is not.
Honestly, if it were not for the religious aspect of this I would say he has behaved pretty normally for a guy who got married too young and probably regrets it now. He does not get a pass for the funny business with his sisters though - but I blame his parents for that more than I blame him.

So he is locked up somewhere being supervised at all times with some older man telling him that his actions and any thoughts are all a horrible sin and to think about Jesus whenever he gets urges? So basically it's six month of reliving his childhood? Yeah, that will work.
Speaking of his childhood, I bet the younger boys are getting extra lectures in controlling their urges from Jim Bob. They have probably banned side hugs.

I just read the full People article and it doesn't pull any punches. Virtually overnight People went from portraying them as "world's most perfect family" to "evil and secretive patriarchal cult." Jim Bob's gotta be fuming. They are done.

I can report that People's subscriber issue this week features the guys who stopped the French train attack. The Duggar story is relegated to a blurb across the top of the page.

This rehab stunt does nothing but demonstrate to me even more than ever that these people are complete freaky weirdoes. Did you guys check out the rehab's website? They seem to treat "ladies" as a different species entirely. So weird. I don't get it. So that we can be a "vessel" for Christ.
