My favorite comment from the Gawker article about Josh's treatment center:

This isn't real rehab, this is a pure PR move. Josh Duggar is behaving like Lindsay Lohan at this point. Thinking saying "I have a problem! It's not my fault and you can't blame me!" excuses everything. Hopefully after his few months they'll be able to convince TLC, or at least the churches with their "love offerings" that he's all better and they're all good Christians with wholesome happy families that are aspirational yet relatable and give us our money please.
And unfortunately, I doubt Anna will ever leave him. She's been raised to think this is her fault somehow, and even if she didn't, she wouldn't want to be a single mother with four kids and no way to support them. Her whole lifestyle and prestige in her community came from her father in law, she'll probably want to hang onto that, sad as it is.

I think Anna's parents should have some "fermented grape juice" (it's totally NOT wine Jesus was drinking, y'all) and STFD & STFU.
They knew about Joshie's little petting episodes before they let encouraged their daughter marry him. As far as they're concerned, their daughter married into the fundie royal family and by gorry she'll stay married into it.

I don't know--TLC doesn't seem to be in the redemption business, do they? I mean, Josh aside, they've had no problem with Michael Roloff and Buddy Valastro on after DUI incidents (where no one was hurt), but I don't recall them ever doing Very Special Episodes of this magnitude. This is the domain of CNN, Fox, or possibly 20/20.
In Anna's favor, she does have her (estranged) brother and sister, and possibly some friends she might have met in Maryland, but that's rather insurmountable against her parents and non-estranged family siding with her to stay with Josh, which might even be extra-comforting now. I wonder how she feels now that it seems that the family wants to keep Anna and dump Josh.

I just...agh. Maybe Anna can embrace the internet, too, and find cult survivor Abby Stone's website or Ex-Mormon.org? Neither would necessarily be a precise fit for her situation, but both offer solid advice for how to get out of abusive, religious-themed (or faux-religious themed) environments. It is never too late to get out. Run, do not walk, from predators.

Translation: "We're angry because Josh derailed our gravy train." The "rehab" place is a scam and a PR stunt. No licensed therapists, no doctors, no nurses, no accreditation, the "stewards" who work there got their fake degrees from unaccredited degree mills, the head "steward" was in fake rehab herself for drug addiction only two years ago. It's just another Duggar-esqe BS prayer immersion place. He's getting thrown into the same environment which helped make him into a pervert in the first place.

The "rehab" place is a scam and a PR stunt. And yet more evidence that they've never been so much interested in helping him clean up his act, (or helping any of his victims, their other children) as they are interested in keeping the whole thing 'in the family.' He can't go through real rehab/hospitialization because professionals aren't invested in keeping the secrets of Duggar/Gothard psycho fundy cult under wraps. This, I believe, is the same reason they sent Josh to a friend of the family to 'straighten him out' after they first became aware of his predation. Getting him to the same "licensed counseling" the victims supposedly got could have exposed them for the abusers they are. These 'parents' horrify me.

Lord help me, but I even have a tiny smidgen of sympathy for Josh. He needs real therapy and he won't get it here. This has undoubtedly been arranged by Jim Bob. Josh is the only one of the kids who's had a taste of independence living in Maryland, but he can't or won't make his own choices. When he does exercise his freedom, it's in the most self-destructive way possible. This is on Jim Bob and Michelle and their 100% crappy parenting. It's infuriating that they've been held up by TLC and People magazine and numerous other media outlets as these model parents. This is what their "model parenting" produces.

I agree. Obviously, I'm not privy to what he actually needs, and it could range anywhere from a stern Airplane! style slap to a year long retreat where he lives in a cabin he built himself and catches his own food, to a formal college education dealing with real people. I don't think his affliction is medical, so while I can agree that this place sounds 1000% sham/scam, I can also appreciate that behavioral therapy is kind of a gray area.
I will agree with RU that Josh needs some kind of hard labor in conjunction with some fitness. I always like reading about people who turned to physical activity as therapy.

This rehab stunt does nothing but demonstrate to me even more than ever that these people are complete freaky weirdoes. Did you guys check out the rehab's website? They seem to treat "ladies" as a different species entirely. So weird. I don't get it.
