Squee! A fellow Rome lover! Atia's final scene was so bittersweet and Polly Walker just nailed it. As far as I'm concerned, Rome was the proto-Game of Thrones before HBO knew what to do with shows like that. Interesting. I was not happy when Rome was deep-sixed, and it's still one of my favorite historical dramas. There are three cancelled-before-their-time series I harbor lingering, TV fan resentment about. Twin Peaks, natch, the American version of Touching Evil, which had great writing, and Medium. The Medium one still sticks in my craw because the storylines were left at loose ends.

I'm kind of bummed Flash Forward didn't make it. I liked so many of the actors on that show. I wouldn't say it was an unjust cancellation since the wheels did come off the bus pretty badly plot-wise, but there was enough good stuff that I don't think it was unsalvageable.

Come to think of it, I still get sniffly when I remember Rose leaving through the front door of 165 Eaton Place.

Yeah, I hated seeing Upstairs, Downstairs end. It was one of those "They're going to go on without me" moments.

I just remembered that The Golden Girls had a really sweet finale where Dorothy married Leslie Nielsen in the ugliest wedding dress known to man. Stan drove her to the church, and Sophia chose to remain living with Rose and Blanche.

And Dorothy kept running back in the house to hug her roomies one more time before leaving on her honeymoon.
Yes, that wedding dress was a disaster. Especially at Dorothy's age and with her gray hair.

Agreed, what was with that dress?? It wasn't even an 80s/early 90s fashion disaster, just a disaster period.

However, everything Dorothy wore was a disaster.

True. My sister and I once speculated that she was hiding a colostomy bag or something.

I still have the series finale of Friday Night Lights on my TiVo. That I don't use. Even though I have the entire series on DVD.
