I think Life(NBC) had a perfect ending.
Wonderfalls also had a good end/wrap up.

I just watched the finale of FNL two days ago (for the 5th time) and cried like a friggin' baby as though it was my first time watching.
I will be the lone voice and say that I LOVED the Lost finale. Eek!

Newhart had the best finale ever. I wonder if they could have kept that special guest under wraps in the internet age. Nevertheless, I was stunned and it was so funny and so surprising.
I liked the Cheers and Senfeld finales. Both were criticized - Cheers for being too ordinary (Sam just carried on running the bar) and Seinfeld for being too out there (the gang was tossed in jail for being jerks, basically). So you can't win either way, I guess.

Here's a new cancellation for me to be bitter about: Lipstick Jungle. I just found this adorable series and want to cry at how quickly it was axed. Likeable and interesting female leads, well-developed story arcs, smart dialogue and sex scenes that are pretty much the best I've seen on network television. Also a realistic depiction of common problems for successful women that didn't resort to either cliche or melodrama.
What went wrong? Timeslot problem? Not hard enough (so to speak) for the post-Sex and the City era?

I forgot about Lipstick Jungle - that was a great show.
Still bitter about Pushing Daisies being canceled.

I've been thinking about this lately, from a late night talk/news show POV--with all the personal loss I've experienced this past year (12 funerals and counting, including my dad's, and ds1 getting ready to leave for college), having Craig Ferguson, David Letterman, and Jon Stewart leave their respective shows has been painful for me. And Stephen Colbert cannot return fast enough--I literally sobbed through his last show on Comedy Central. Just learned that Stephen comes back on September 8th. September 8th is my dad's birthday.

Heh. It's like this thread is magic. HBO in preliminary talks for a Deadwood wrap-up movie.I love Garret Dillahunt's comment: "#Everybodypray." Seriously, HBO, get on this. Thanks to cool stuff like Burn Notice, House of Cards and Winter's Bone, virtually everyone in the original cast is still active. Plus, people like Anna Gunn have been nothing but famous since, so-- long live Deadwood!

Only awesome people are born on Sept. 8. Thanks for the birthday present, Colbert.
