I looked and didn't find one, so I thought I'd post a thread about series finales and television show cancellations. Happy endings, sad ones, and the ever-bitter departure of shows abruptly killed by heartless executives or low ratings are what this thread is for.
My favorite series finale is actually the recent wrap-up of Mad Men. Very thorough and realistic endings for all the characters. I also love the last episode of the long-running Night Court, and remain mostly okay with the black screen ending to The Sopranos. I'm still bitter as hell that HBO yanked my beloved Deadwood before its much-deserved fourth season. And I actually ate ice cream to celebrate the long overdue death of the Duggar's reality show.

M.A.S.H. is considered the best of the best, yeah? I have still never watched it, I am a little ashamed to admit.
I loved the Mad Men finale, I think it will also age well if that makes sense. Also: Sopranos! Six Feet Under! Friday Night Lights!
I loved Fringe and thought the finale was just so perfect. Kinda sappy yet terribly intelligent, just like the entire series. The final scene killed me dead; the letter with the white tulip, sob! I didn't realize it until the end that Walter was the heart of that show.

I'm scared of posting on my Tumblr that I approved of the How I Met Your Mother finale. The hate burns strong over there.
I also thought the Dawson's Creek ending was really good.
Running out of the room now...

I think the final scene of Fringe was the one of the best final scenes of a series I've ever seen, for me it's right up there with the final scene of LOST. It mirrored the opening scene of the first episode almost perfectly.

I'm kind of glad someone liked it. Six Feet Under's final montage will always be the definitive one for me. Broke my heart and gave me closure.

Most of you youngsters aren't going to remember this one, but the Mary Tyler Moore Show finale was great. The whole WJM crowd in a group hug, and then the entire scrum inching over to the tissue box.

I don't think I saw the MTM end when it first aired, but I see that clip played many times and used as an example of a great series ending.
And speaking of, I thought the ending of Breaking Bad was just about perfect. I don't agree with everything that Walter White did, (very wrong of him to terrorize his old business partners- it wasn't their fault he bailed before the company got successful) But at the same time, everything that he did was perfectly in fitting with what his character would do. And the song they played right at the end was so on the nose lyric wise it was almost creepy- brilliant!

And the only one who still had a job at WJM was Ted.

I'm still upset that Forever was cancelled.

All of the music in that episode was spot-on, the song El Paso basically spelled out what was going to happen. My favorite aspect of the episode was the entire final interaction between Walt and Jesse, especially how Walt decided at the last minute to save Jesse once he saw what condition he was in. And I know that the likelihood of Jesse remaining a free man was slim, but I loved seeing him drive away all happy after basically telling Walt to eff off.
