Prenup, no prenup, pinkie swear, whatever, there is no way Candy is letting Dean get a penny of that sweet Love Boat fortune.

Good. I’m Team Candy on that one. Dean can kick rocks in flip flops. Tori too. Hope whatever the kids get someday is safe from their parents. I also hope that the kids learn to mange their money.

I also hope that the kids learn to mange their money. That lesson won't come from their parents. that's for sure.

Maybe Candy will get them a good money manager- they're going to need one.

Can someone refresh my memory: Did Aaron cut the kids out of his will, or was Candy responsible for that since (IIRC?) Aaron had dementia and wasn't really in control of his faculties at the end? What was Aaron's explanation for cutting the kids out of the will?
Tori needs to take some tips from Randy, but I guess she's not interested in living a quieter life?
By all accounts Tori is a nice, fun person--it's too bad she can't pull it together to leverage her privilege into something with some dignity.

If I remember correctly, neither Aaron nor Candy were trying to cut the kids out as much as Aaron thought he was being fair. I think he didn’t really have a concept of his money either and thought the $800,000 (I think that was the amount) he left them was generous and Candy would get the rest and always take care of them if she needed to. Then Tori married Dean who Candy thought was a leech, Tori didn’t want to be controlled by Candy, and Tori also made it clear she couldn’t budget the inheritance she had, and so Candy noped right out of giving her access to more funds. I think I read once that Candy takes care of a lot of the kids needs, like education. I do think Candy is a shit mom in general but I don’t think she was trying to hoard all the money. The amount was generous by regular people standards, just not by spoiled Hollywood kid standards, and the Spelling parents just never prepared the kids for what they were really getting or taught them any money management skills (or at least Tori, I think Randy may be fine). Just my impression.

Yeah, I think Tori said Aaron was no longer in touch with how far a dollar stretches and thought $800k was fulfilling his promise that he would take care of her for the rest of her life. But I think Tori has also indicated that Candy understood that it wasn't a lot of money and she heavily influenced the amount being set that low - so that she would continue to have financial control over Tori (which of course is a dysfunctional cycle Tori could have opted out of at any time simply by being a responsible and self-sufficient adult).

Randy seems to have moved on, unlike Tori. He's not hanging off mom to fund his life, he got counseling and went to rehab and made better choices. Tori's had fifteen years to get herself straightened out and she's chosen not to. At this point I think she's past blaming Candy for her mess, it's on her that she keeps on spending herself into lawsuits.

It always confuses me when people say that Aaron cut the kids out of his will. Usually marital property is joint property and it will stay with your spouse upon death. I'm sure Candy and Aaron made provisions for their kids/grandkids upon both of their deaths, though I would not be surprised if Candy tried to skip a generation bc of the mess that Tori seems to have mad of her life. (Set up a trust for the younger grandkids.)
I'm sure Tori and her brother will get some money when she dies, though.

True, but I think that's where rich kids having money set aside for them in trust funds would normally come into play, and the Spellings didn't do that. They made it into this messed up situation where cashing in was tied to Aaron's death. Candy has set up trust funds for each of her grandchildren, though.
