Did anyone watch the Talking Saul thing on AMC after the finale? Really fun commentary there. Michael McKean's take on Chuck is that Chuck is motivated by a kind of "love for his brother" (ie; not wanting to see him spiral down the drain.) I...don't see that personally, but thought it was interesting (maybe the editing is getting in the way of the audience seeing Chuck's 'caring' side.)
Jonathan Banks also gave us an extremely bitter comment on how 'families who have gone through tough stuff (because of their fucked up members) 'better not forgive'' said members transgressions for the sake of group survival. This prompted the host to say this was what many members of the Breaking Bad audience have wanted to say for the last five years, which, yeah. Go, Jonathan Banks.
I definitely think Gus for author of the note...except my dad thinks it was Jimmy himself. Which would be really interesting. Jimmy might have put together what Mike is doing somehow, (he was Mike's lawyer after all) although if he managed to get word to Nacho (who could have written the note) or get out to the desert himself, that would have involved some heavy off camera activity for Mr. McGill. The only other person who might know what Mike was up to there would be Nacho (who was also represented by Jimmy) so I think it's plausible.

Interesting! Your dad could be onto something. Say, if Nacho caught a glimpse of Mike's rifle shining off the cliff edge (and he'd always be watching for something like that since he was the one who suggested Mike take Tuco out in that fashion), maybe he texted Jimmy on the sly. Jimmy comes out of Chuck's house, gets his phone out of the mailbox and sees Nacho's text. Then floors it in his beat up car out to the desert in time to write Mike a note and leave his horn blaring. I mean, it might have to be that Jimmy is secretly The Flash to really work... but Mike has a backwards aging granddaughter, so I could suspend disbelief.
It occurred to me last night that on BB, Mike was always Gus's right hand man and go to guy. But who was that guy before Mike? And could that guy have written the note? However, while I can believe Smilla's dad's theory about Jimmy, I HOPE it was Gus. Just because, damn it, I loooooooves me some Gus and hope to see him again soon paired up with Mike and with his face fully intact.
You know when he DOES sooner or later team up with Mike it will involve a good meal! Or at least a veggie tray! Gus was always so thoughtful and hospitable in his criminal dealings :-)!!

Better Call Saul returns in April.Through various articles, I've read that we'll be seeing the return of both Gus and (duhn dunnn) Saul himself. I will miss the illustrious Mr. McGill, but the writers were kinda running out of space, timeline wise, to hold off on bringing Saul back (Gus, too.)

Finally! I don't have cable, so I have to wait til it hits Netflix. Last year, S1 premiered on Netflix right around the same time S2 debuted on AMC, so I'm assuming that means S2 will be on Netflix around the same time S3 begins. I was not expecting to enjoy this as much as I did, so I'm ready for more!

Tee hee. He's back tonight. I feel like I'm going to be seeing an old boyfriend from the wrong side of my past.

Why oh why does Bob Odenkirk not have an Emmy already? He is so good on this show. The opening sequence alone last night was amazing, I just hope they don't make us wait until the beginning of next season to find out what happened.

And Jonathan Banks too. Better Call Saul is making me even more retroactively annoyed at his fate in Breaking Bad.
Question about Breaking Bad: why did Saul have to change his identity to Gene again? Was he running from the bad guys or the law? If it is the law for what crimes? He was Walter's lawyer and was helping him launder money but did they know that? I always got the impression he covered his tracks pretty well. At one point he shredded all his records. I guess I'm trying to remember if the cops really knew how deep he was involved or if he was just paranoid.

I think he was paranoid about the cops finding out how deep he was in with Walt. And he was an accessory to the poisoning of the kid, which Jesse knew by then and with Jesse slowly losing it and one of his guys getting nabbed by the DEA he was scared about one of them blabbing about him.

Last night was kinda boring. I know they have to keep the story arcs ready for the payoff at the end of the season, but the episode (which I didn't make it to the end of) left me yawning and irritated. Except for the part where "Gene" snaps, reverts to his Saul persona and screams, "Get a lawyer!" That made me think Omaha may not be his final resting place.

GUS! AT LAST!!! YAY!!! I was kinda bummed when he didn't show up in the season premiere- but now he's back and at his most awesome- hiding in plain sight. If Gus wasn't the highly successful head of a drug cartel- he'd really be the world's best fast food manager! So polite, so accommodating! You'd want to go to Los Pollos Hermanos for the service even if the food sucked just to hear the manager's dulcet tones and offer of extra salsa. And you know the place would be spotless! I mean even when Gus is slicing his henchman's throat open with a box cutter, he's doing it with cleanliness in mind! (Good to see poor doomed Victor again, by the way) And they didn't show it, but I'm assuming Gus picked something up from Dufflebag man while he was sweeping. Double duty. Picking up drug drops and keeping that floor clean! Love me some Gus!
As much as I love Gus, man oh man I do I hate Chuck! It's awful enough that he's made it his life's purpose to stick it to Jimmy (which, if given time Jimmy would probably be just grand at ruining himself) But he wastes everyone else's time and resources to do it. And after Jimmy spent a year catering to Chuck's make-believe illness. Good gravy! If they still produce updated D&D manuals they can use Chuck's picture for the example of "Lawful Evil". (And Howard almost messed up his suit just to play along!)
Mike is still mah TV boyfriend although now he's got stiff competition with Gus back on the scene.
And Francesca! AHHHH! She's so cheery now. What'll crush her spirit yet keep her loyal to Jimmy/ Saul in the coming future?
