I'm midway through Season 2, which just came out on Netflix, so I'm not reading this thread carefully because I don't want to get spoiled for what's ahead. But, boy, do I love this show. There are stellar performances from so many people. Last night was the first appearance of the uncle character who's in the wheelchair with the bell in Breaking Bad and it was so cool to see him walking and talking. I really wish the actor who plays Mike could win an Emmy.

As much as I love Gus, man oh man I do I hate Chuck! It's awful enough that he's made it his life's purpose to stick it to Jimmy (which, if given time Jimmy would probably be just grand at ruining himself) But he wastes everyone else's time and resources to do it. And after Jimmy spent a year catering to Chuck's make-believe illness. Good gravy! If they still produce updated D&D manuals they can use Chuck's picture for the example of "Lawful Evil". (And Howard almost messed up his suit just to play along!) Chuck is just as slimy and slick as Saul Goodman, he just happens to be on the "right" side of the law and be a partner in a prestigious firm. I just don't understand how he could hate Jimmy so much that he'd be willing to put so much effort into basically tricking him into committing a felony. Obviously it doesn't fully work, but I think this whole thing must be the catalyst towards sketchy-but-sweet Jimmy turning fully into "criminal" lawyer Saul Goodman. If Chuck had just left him alone he'd probably have kept right on doing wills for old people and never even met Walter White.

Francesca! I was actually happier to see her than almost anything else (including Gus.) It will be interesting to see how they go from cheery ex-DMV employee with her to the woman hustling Walt for cash over a broken door.
The line that broke my heart, though, was actually "I wanted it to look like morning over the Sandias." Ouch. In five-ish years, everything about what Jimmy once felt for an amazing woman will be a distant memory.

My Mike love continues to know no bounds! I could watch a whole show of just his elaborate schemes and traps. And now with Gus in the mix *swoon!!*
Kim's opening montage made her seem like Wonder Woman. I'm sad for her already since I don't expect her to come out of this well at all.
Chuck is the worst, as always. I knew he'd fire Ernesto, but Ernesto had such a crappy job anyway I can't see it as a loss. I wonder if he'll wind up at Los Pollos Hermanos asking folks if they want extra salsa- or if this is the last we'll see of good 'ol Ernie. I'd like him to get some kind of justice served against Chuck- but not everyone has Mike's awesome revenge getting skillz so Ernie may just be out of luck.
I was watching BB as background noise over the weekend and the Better Call Saul episode cued up. When Walt and Jesse haul Saul (heh) out to the desert, he says 'It wasn't me! It was Ignacio!' So I wonder if that means Nacho will actually survive into BB times. Also Saul is relived to find out Walt and Jess weren't sent by 'Lalo'. So who this is and how they will eventually be tied to Nacho and Jimmy will be very interesting to watch shake out. Way more interesting than all this petty douchbaggery with Chuck- so I hope that comes to a speedy conclusion. I hope Chuck comes out of it ruined and disbarred on top of dying alone. But I fear Kim won't make it out unscathed either.

How many more season until we catch up to the Breaking Bad timeline?

Poor Ernesto. He didn't do anything wrong, and he still lost his job. I'm hoping maybe Kim will hire him as her assistant or something.
Chuck really is the worst. When he was going on and on to Jimmy about how he was doing it for his own good and not trying to punish him and blah blah blah I just wanted to punch him in his smug, lying face. He's alienating the only person left who actually cared about him. Howard sure as hell isn't going to put up with his BS for the rest of his life.

Jimmy's goodbye speech to his 'caring' brother was the best: "You'll die there alone." Totally cold--which is exactly what Chuck deserves.
prisma--it was May 2002 in the premier episode of Better Call Saul's season one, so my guess is that these season three episodes are taking place early-to-mid 2003. BB originally premiered in 2008. The truth is, though, we have no idea in which year BB launched in the show's own timeline, at least, not that I ever found. Though the events of BB clearly comprise no more than two to two-and-a-half years, based on Baby Holly's age at the end, (Skyler was four months pregnant in the pilot and the child is a toddler in the finale) it could have started and ended within any range of time.
Put a better way--I have no idea when we'll catch up to Breaking Bad's beginning, but my hunch (stated above) is about five years. Unless, as Chuck predicts, Jimmy's downfall is as fast, dehumanizing, (literally) and gross as it would have to be for him to go from his current state to the guy screaming "I'm a friend of the cartel!" at Walt and Jesse.

DON ELADIO!!! What has this show done to me that I bounce up and down and squeal like a little girl receiving a basket of kittens each time some murderous drug overlord is re-introduced?
Just as a personal coincidence, I have been re-watching Breaking Bad and the episode where Don Eladio and crew get Gussed (heh) was the last one I watched before this episode aired. So the opening shot being parallel to Eladio's last shot was not only not lost on me- it made my usual bouncing and squeeing even more intense. He played God to Gus and Hector's Able and Cain- and Gus had the more pleasing offering (Naturally!)
Hector though, is so obnoxious and off-putting when he has the ability to speak. I think I like him better with the bell.
Dang, if I worked at a fast food chicken joint, I'd want Gus to be my boss. Though I'm a little worried for all the employees. Nacho wouldn't harm them I don't think, but I can see Hector sending Gus a bucket full of body parts with a Pollos Hermanos cap and name tag inside. Here's hoping I'm way off.
I could watch the Gus, Mike and Nacho Show forever... But when Kim and Saul do get into the mix, it is good to see them hustle. I don't quite get how they'd entrapped Chuck but hopefully it won't backfire on them.

Not only would Hector not be above such an evil maneuver, it would explain why the employees got so much screen time and were portrayed so sympathetically (especially the shift manager who displayed such loyalty to Gus.)

Lyle. I have a bad feeling about his future.
