Oh yeah, that speech by Gus was too good. Too inspiring. If Hector or his gang ever step foot in Pollos Hermanos again Lyle is going to feel emboldened to say or do something stupid.

I just finished season 2 and broke down and started purchasing episodes of season 3 on Amazon because this is so good and I have no will power.

Pardon my double post but.... HUELL!!! I finished up my Breaking Bad re-watch over the weekend and it occurred to me that poor Huell might still be waiting in that dingy motel room for Hank and Gomey to return (They told him to stay put until they came back after all). But the actor portraying Huell has slimmed down quite a bit- which good for him. Though that means that the character of Huell must have started stress eating sometime between BCS and BB. Saul Goodman: Crushing Francesca's soul and Huell's waistline, such a pity!
Last night's episode wasn't as satisfying as I'd hoped. Glad Chuck got exposed for the petty, whiny douche that he is, but other than Jimmy most likely getting to keep his license, there won't be as much consequence as he deserves. I enjoyed the vet scolding Jimmy on his care of a goldfish- but the rest of the action was all in the courtroom which made it draggy.
And no Gus, Mike or Nacho! WAAAAAAAAAH!!! I guess Giancarlo Esposito and Jonathan Banks have it in their contracts that they get billing in the credits even if they don't show up on the set... but what a tease! :-(!
Still, Kim calling Howard out on his nepotism response to why Jimmy wasn't hired at their firm was glorious, so Kim can be mah hero of the day even if Gus and Mike weren't around to bring the awesome.

It was awesome to see Huell again. And every time that veterinarian shows up I can't help but wonder how he got into the criminal referral service. Does he have a rolodex of all of ABQ's criminals and what their specialties are?

You guys have a much better memory than I do. I thought Huell looked familiar but couldn't place him. I just had to read his Wiki page to realize he was Saul's bodyguard. I feel like I need to start rewatching Breaking Bad now because I have forgotten so many of the connections.
I thought it was interesting that Chuck had the battery in his pocket all that time and was unaffected since he didn't know it was there.
Do we have any indication from what Saul said on Breaking Bad about what becomes of Kim and Chuck? Chuck deserves what he gets. Kim I am worried about.

We never really saw or heard anything about Saul's life outside of his criminal lawyering on BB, the only thing that comes to mind right now is that he mentioned that he once tricked a woman into thinking that he was Kevin Costner in order to sleep with her. On BCS they showed the morning after of that encounter with the women getting pissed off when she realized he in fact was not Kevin Costner.

I thought it was interesting that Chuck had the battery in his pocket all that time and was unaffected since he didn't know it was there. In the flashback at the beginning of the episode, Chuck was unbothered by the cell phone Rebecca had on her because he didn't know it was there. IIRC, the so-called "electromagnetic hypersensitivity" was even demonstrated by a doctor to be mental illness rather than physical when Chuck was hospitalized. She wanted him committed. -I can't believe Chuck has managed to get all of these accommodations for a self-diagnosed condition. He had the audacity to compare it to AIDS. -It made me guffaw when Chuck a)had to practice saying he loved his brother and b)compared him to the Unabomber.

Re: Saul's life before Breaking Bad--I mentioned upthread that he once told Walt he'd walked in on his second wife "screwing [his] stepdad," but I doubt the wife is anyone we've seen on BCS. Because it just can't be Kim, it can't. Unless Jimmy's stepdad turns out to actually be Kevin Costner.

I loved this episode. But I do prefer the Jimmy/Kim/Chuck story to the Mike/Gus stuff. Don't get me wrong, Mike is great and Gus was my favorite character on Breaking Bad. But I feel like we kind of know how that story is going to play out whereas what turns Jimmy into Saul and what happens to Kim and Chuck is still a total mystery. My personal theory about Kim is that she does not die but she is the one who ends up getting disbarred and somehow Jimmy is responsible. Not necessarily the whole Mesa verda thing but some time in the future her connection to him bites her in the ass and she ends up disbarred, leaving him and most likely New Mexico.
I remember Huell from BB but I didn't recognize him here. He has lost a lot of weight. Good for him but he also looked much older. I know with prequels you have to kind of ignore that everyone is now older then they were in the original but this is the first actor from BB who I thought looked noticeably older. There was another shoutout to BB when Saul asked Chuck a question along the lines of would he have hidden the disease from his wife if it was lung cancer. Isn't that what Walter White initially did?
