Why are people in such a hurry to forgive him? Why does he get to comeback at all? I don't get it either. I don't find him to be any kind of comic genius. Also don't forget that totally creepy Woody Allen-esque movie he did, where his teenage daughter starts dating his idol. This is not a voice we need on the cultural landscape. Bin him. I posted a longish quote from Roxane Gay's editorial in the NYT over in the Hollywood Behaving Badly thread. These guys have not atoned for anything. They had a time out, and are hoping to slink their way back in show business with minimal consequences. Meanwhile the women they victimized are still living with the fallout of their actions, emotional trauma and major career damage.

Regrettably, I actually did find him to be a comedic genius before all this. And yet I can still put that aside, change my mind, and no longer find him worthy of my patronage/fanhood/respect.

I did, too. Mulva. And I still really like the show he produced starring Pamela Adlon.
I'm seeing very few other men say they think it's too soon for CK to come back, and that disappoints me.

I never watched his show, and didn't follow his stand up career, but I was aware that he was a big deal in comedy. The new Seinfeld or something. A Larry David like character. The little I did see and hear wasn't that impressive, but it worked for some. What I'm trying to figure out is if this was his type of "edgy" humor before the scandal? Not that it matters, but if this is what he wants to do to make a comeback, he should stay gone. I don't care if he's not being PC, the "jokes" just aren't funny. And a sexual predator punching down on trans people, and school shooting survivors? That ain't it chief. He needs better people around him. ETA: This I. Am. Screaming.

Paste Magazine rounded up the funniest tweets about this mess which is pretty much the only silver lining. Most brutal and accurate burn: Because that's it, isn't it? Not only is the subject matter sociopathic, the actual jokes are just straight up hacky. It's stuff you could program a bot to come up with. And yet we're going to be undoubtedly beseiged by the lament of the white male comedian about how comedy is sooooo haaaard man, and it's so unfair to be mean to a guy who's putting himself out there. But of course the Parkland survivors are the real snowflakes, amiright?

I honestly don’t understand why people are laughing in that audio. None of that is the least bit funny.

YES. Dude, come on. That's so tone deaf, it's painful.

If the only people supporting his right to sexually harass women are conservatives, he’s got to make jokes they enjoy about school shootings not mattering and denigrating trans people. That stand up isn’t even jokes. It’s garden variety “what is the deal with gun control and transsexuals?” That’s not actually a joke. It’s a weak (weak as shit) conservative diatribe. I look forward to his comments on immigration and voting rights.

It really makes me wonder how many seemingly liberal, rational,"woke" folks are one bad decision/career downturn from going full MAGA. Once you are rich/successful and hit a certain level of fame and income, you'll do anything to hold onto that perch. Ethics go out the window as long as the money rolls in.
