I wasn't being hostile at all. I just wondered why his "stupidity" got a pass and not hers, especially since they both involved drug use.

Bowie was born in '47. The fascist stuff was around 76-77. So he was about 30.

From what I have read, (and I'm no expert) I believe Bowie got clean after he left Germany and moved to Switzerland to get his act together in the late 70's. So I guess that would be in his late 20's early 30's??
Off of Kate and back to Bowie, I saw him back in the 80's on the Glass Spider Tour, but my older brothers saw him a few times when he was still Ziggy. They said he was incredible. I certainly don't want to be older, but it must have been great to see him then. Then again, they also got to see Led Zeppelin. lol

Love love love him. I think he is all kinds of brilliant. Anyone know what the whole scoop is re: his bi-sexuality? I know about Angie Bowie finding him in bed with Mick and all that--but what else?

I think this article has a pretty good, and brief, take on his "bisexuality".

Got myself a ticket to Radio City Music Hall, mid 70's, and went all by my lonesome. Nice music but no Ziggy. I missed Ziggy by one concert tour. Thanks a lot David!
He survived the drugs but, as everyone knows, he had a heart attack about a year ago and was lucky to survive. Who needs that crap when you're in your 50's.

I remember that. He was on tour and thought he had a pinched nerve in his shoulder and it turned out to be a blocked artery.

Many years ago, I went to see him with Nine Inch Nails opening. My husband and I were there to see him, about 65% of the audience was there to see NIN. It was funny to see the Reznor fans - they were dressed in head-to-toe black, with dyed-black hair, piercings, studded belts, etc... Then there were the Bowie fans, mostly 30 and up. You could tell who was there to see who just by looking at them.
Well, this was at the time that Bowie had a new band and a new album out, and he announced that he would no longer play any of his old music - that from then on, he was only going to play his new stuff. So if you were coming to his show to hear Ziggy, or top 40 hits, you would be disappointed. After NIN left the stage, Bowie and his band started playing, but they were all songs nobody had ever heard before. In small groups, the NIN fans began leaving the arena. I mean, just clearing out in groups of five and ten until more than half of the seats were empty. It was really embarrassing for Bowie. We couldn't believe it. I had never seen people walk out on the headliner before. The next day there was a review of the concert, and the reviewer said that Bowie had better think twice about his "new songs only" policy, after watching hordes of people walk out on his show.

I actually like a lot of his 90s stuff, like "Thursdays Child" and "I'm Afraid of Americans." Very hard-hitting and experimental, if derivative of the hard grindcore music of the time. (I don't know the proper term, but what Throbbing Gristle and similar bands put out.)

I've seen him on almost every tour since 1983. I saw him about six months ago and it was amazing. It was the best Bowie I'd ever seen. He was happy and humble and performed songs from his entire career. No duds in the bunch. He still has it.
