I think this article has a pretty good, and brief, take on his "bisexuality". Dang. That IS good. Can you imagine someone that famous today claiming homosexuality to INCREASE popularity? Heh.

His last concert as Ziggy Stardust is available here. If I remember right, ABC broadcast a Ziggy show back in the 70's (on the In Concert program) with Marianne Faithfull and some other famous folks. I don't think this is the same show though. But I still love his Ziggy Stardust stuff.

I remember that show. It was called "The 1984 Floor Show" or something like that.
IRT Lefty: Ouch. That was painful to read, let alone watch.

I think that came from his "Diamond Dogs" era. Is it available on DVD yet?

Loved him as Andy Warhol in Basquiat. Totally the perfect person to capture that stagey eccentricity Warhol had going on. It was kind of a caricature, but so was Warhol himself.
Also, I really like Diamond Dogs. It has some clunkers, but the "Candidate" demo is one of my most favoritest songs.

Correct me if I am wrong but isn't one of the main characters in Velvet Goldmine suppose to be David Bowie?

Brian Slade (Jonathan Rhys-Myers) is based on Bowie. Bowie was pissed because he wanted to do his own ZIggy Stardust movie, so he wouldn't let them use any of his music. The other theory, which I agree with, is that Bowie was distancing himself from his bisexual posturing. Which was actually a large premise of the film:

"Candidate" from Diamond Dogs is one of my favorites too. I saw him onstage in "Elephant Man" here in NYC and he was excellent. He also did some film in which he was a British soldier in a WWII prison camp which had homosexual overtones. Anyone remember him in The Hunger or Labyrinth? He was weirdly sexy in that. Look at this website I found! ROFL

That would have been Merry Christmas, Mr. Lawrence.
