I was just on ONTD and saw a pretty good and soapy twist that someone thought up:
I could get behind that. Not that it would make up for the dip in quality this season, but it would be a "shocking" reveal.

That party was ridiculous. My general pet peeve not just related to this show, but it slays me how every time someone has a theme party all the guests have costumes that are professionally made and look like they're right off a Hollywood set--which they are, but still. I also roll my eyes that a bunch of second graders would even know the word 'disco' let alone be into an entire party centered around it.

I can't keep track of how many of the characters this week had PTSD flashbacks/hallucinations/psychic flashes/mushroom trip visions. Jane, Celeste, Bonnie, Bonnie's mom. That needs to stop. I also roll my eyes that a bunch of second graders would even know the word 'disco' let alone be into an entire party centered around it. Amabella was singing along to Disco Inferno!

I also roll my eyes that a bunch of second graders would even know the word 'disco' let alone be into an entire party centered around it. I think this is part of the joke, these parties are not planned with the kids in mind, who would probably be happy with cake and a pony ride or magician, but with showing off wealth to the other parents and one upmanship. Did anyone notice that Bonnie's mom seemed to get extremely bad vibes from Renata? They seemed to zero in on that, so I'm wondering if there's more there than just "wow, this lady is EXTRA." I wish Ben Wyatt would just leave. Just pull the plug on the marriage. I gave him last week, but they are dragging out his anger, and he doesn't seem to be willing to do anything to save the marriage.

When your wife says, "Can you please just leave me already?" it's time to get moving.
I did get a kick out of Nathan sidling up to Ed with his chest puffed out, which inevitably wound up with noogies being exchanged.

Not that it would make up for the dip in quality this season, but it would be a "shocking" reveal. That would actually make some sense to me. We're being shown how the sins of the parents influence the kids (even Renata, who grew up with nothing and took from it that she would not be poor again.) The kids talking about how their parents have shown them to lie (Chloe calling it branding was actually hilarious) was the next generation showing symptoms, but the big 5 characters all seem to be falling into the same bad behaviors that they hated in their parents. I thought ML was going to turn out to have killed her husband somehow but I think she is definitely the psycho that raised Perry to be a psycho. Could it also be that ML just gave Bonnie the dirty look because she's short?

As for the show? Bonnie and her mom? Don't care. If they go ahead and pull the magic black woman/psychic with the shining, I will puke blood. Renata rules as always. Madeline is whiny. Chloe is obnoxious. Nathan is irrelevant, and his absence would not have been missed. Ed needs to divorce and move on. New Age boyfriend is still too weird and creepy for me. Jane is boring. Celeste is being an idiot. Mary Louise is obnoxious and annoying. The season is half over, and it sucks. The last few episodes would have to be brilliant to save this season. It does seem like that's the direction they're going with Bonnie's mom. The long, hard looks at Renata (not sure what that will turn out to be about, if anyone's to blame for Bonnie's problem, it's Madeline and her lie) and the psychic vision or whatever at the end, it all seems to hint toward some kind of supernatural element. But it felt so contrived with the final image of Bonnie in the water, like it's trying to be artsy and failing. The writing continues to bug and I wish they had cast anyone else as Madeline's husband. He is just not pulling off this role and I too wish he'd just leave, even if it's a temporary "get some space" leaving. I can sympathize with his position, it's a fresh wound and a huge betrayal, but continuing to hang around Madeline just to freeze her out isn't helping anything. And the utter lack of chemistry between Reese Witherspoon and the actor (whose name I can't recall) makes the whole storyline seem like a moot point. It's hard to root for 2 people to work it out when they seemed like passing acquaintances from the start. I don't understand why Madeline would let Mary Louise join the party uninvited. ML has been nothing but rude and openly hostile to her and it was her party, she had every right to take ML's insincere offer to turn her away as an imposition. There were a few moments last night where Nicole Kidman's acting was truly awful (thinking specifically of the scene where ML tells her about the petition). It was nowhere the caliber of her work last year.

I thought because Bonnie's mom was an addict that she was on some kind of drug trip, but then the doctor said it was an artery that needed cleaning out. So she had a psychic vision that resulted in a clogged artery? I don't know and honestly IDGAF about Bonnie's mom and her poorly-established subplot.
Bonnie's mom and the police detective both have a whiff of being magical.
I'm rooting for any one of those women to walk up to Francie and tell her to either make an arrest or stop standing around in public glaring at them with her judgmental face.

Those women need to be exercising much more considering how they look.

I'm rooting for any one of those women to walk up to Francie and tell her to either make an arrest or stop standing around in public glaring at them with her judgmental face. Seriously. She's a police officer. She can't just stalk these women while they are driving and approach them and say vaguely threatening things. It was ruled an accident. If you think it wasn't an accident, collect evidence and bring charges.
