Interior designer Saxon B. has the same build and general coloring as Perry. Someone raised the question that creeper Ed might be the rapist, so when I went back and rewatched the episodes, I noticed that the rapist is definitely tall and slim like Perry or Saxon. I don't know if that's a red herring, because at this point it seems a little too obvious if Perry's the rapist and his kids are Amabella's tormentors, but I don't think it's the interior designer. The clues pointing to Perry being the rapist are pretty overwhelming at this point - which makes it seem like it must be a red herring. On the other hand, we've seen 5 of 7 episodes at this point and I don't know whether the show is going to turn around and do a big plot twist, or whether it's more about building up tension to the logical showdown that would occur if Perry is the rapist. (I personally thought that the rape scene was filmed with Alexander Skarsgard because he was so tall and so big.)

For some reason I thought we had only one episode left, but it is two. And I'm itching to get the mystery resolved (though I am enjoying the ride as well).
I went back and watched the brief flash we got of the night of the crime at the end of the last episode. It was clearly after the murder because of the continuation of the blue flashing police lights bleeding over from Jane getting pulled over to the flash to the night of the murder. In that brief glimpse, I believe I saw Jane, Renata, and Celeste. So I think we can cross them off the "victim" list. I suppose any of them could still be the murderer. Missing was Maddy and Bonnie, and all of the husbands.

While the cast is doing a great job, esp Reese and Nicole, I find all the characters so unlikable that I really don't care which one is murdered. I don't think that was the intent.
I do think the intent is the tired cliche that no one is really happy, everybody has horrible secrets, no marriage is good, blahblahblah.

Waiting for a week is going to be hard. I watched the coming episode clip twice and paused repeatedly through the second time and I still can't tell anything, other than it looks like Perry and Celeste get into it at Trivia Night. (Or someone who looks like Perry, but he's wearing an Elvis wig with big sideburns, so I could be wrong.)

I'm loving the therapist. She isn't messing around and is just doing everything she can to save Celeste. I just wish that Celeste had taken all of her advice and told someone about it. At the end when she said she going to have dinner with Jane I was hoping that was where she was actually going and was going to confess to Jane about what was going on. Maddy is obviously her BFF and would fight for her, but they are both lying too much to each other about their lives. Jane has been the most honest about her issues, so it made sense to me that Celeste would go to her. Too bad she didn't, but I hope this means she's going to take that apartment.
I too was replaying the promo for next week. The guy in the Elvis wig with Celeste had Perry's height and build, so I think it was him. There was another shot in the promo with Perry and one of the twins where Perry looks alarmed - I'm willing to bet one of the twins saw him beating Celeste and he was panicked at getting caught. And that will probably be what gets Celeste to move out, and then Perry shows up at trivia night to confront her about it.
For how way-too-cool-for-six Chloe is, Abigail is a total idiot. I can't believe her parents weren't freaking out more. Nathan sucks. He's so petty and vindictive. I don't know what earthy-crunchy Bonnie is doing with him. Seems all she does is roll her eyes at him. I still worry about Maddy and Ed's marriage. When Abigail asked her if she still loved Ed her answer wasn't that convincing.
I actually really liked the scene where Jane and Renata actually talked to each other like human beings. So I'm confused at the scene in the preview where Renata's husband is yelling at Jane. I liked that they realized they were actually in a pretty similar position and I hoped that would last.

Okay, I'll be the shallow one here: was that real Skarsgard dick? I may have rewound that scene one or twelve times.
I liked the scene with Maddy confessing her affair to Abigail and also the vomiting during dinner. Great acting by Reese in this ep!

I just saw a review that pointed out that the fact one of the twins lost a tooth may be significant - does the bite mark on Amabella's shoulder have a gap in it?

Renata's chumminess with Jane did not seem genuine to me. Renata's got something up her sleeve and that play date offer was not just a playdate. I love Laura Dern calling Jane "girl" like they are suddenly BFF's. That was a nice touch.
madefortv I think that was a flesh colored baseball bat. Even on HBO, showing the real thing would probably be scandalous (and asking the actor to get that way would probably be considered over the line).

LOL, one thing's for certain: it wasn't the same prosthetic they used for "Girls" a few weeks ago. But, yeah, there's no way that was real.

This show is so, so good. Nicole's Celeste breaks my heart. They have gotten so many details of an abusive relationship right ("right after, I have the power").
What I would worry about is having Celeste leave but stay that close to Perry. How has the therapist not considered that he'll likely stalk her and hurt/kill her if she tries to leave or has left? Another sweet, ocean-side apartment though.
Have Jane and Perry actually met at this point? I'm guessing not.
