Maybe the coffee shop guy is the one who gets murdered at the school fundraiser? Picked the wrong time to screw up someone's delivery order and paid the price? Talk about getting stiffed on the tip.... Okay, I"m starting episode 5 and my money is on Ambella hurting herself. If I'm wrong and you all know it please don't tell me yet! Ziggy's therapist was one of the voices on Herman's Head way back in the day. She was the happy/ sane voice. Jane listening to the B-52's Dance this Mess Around makes me want to have all sorts of long intense conversations with whomever is in charge of the music for the show. Clearly she's been spying on me and I need to know what she knows.

I know I keep posting these, but I really enjoy Tom and Lorenzo's commentaries on the episodes. I agree with them that it's easy to forget that there's a murder at the center of this because the acting and the complexity/depth of the characters is so compelling to watch. I am now over my desire to read spoilers because I want to watch and find out at the same time as everyone else. I am going to miss this show. I saw some mention about the possibility of a season 2. Is there a second book? I guess that's a question for after the finale, but I assumed the ending was the ending. Which is why I am sad.

No, no second book. Everything is wrapped up at the end of the book and I would presume the same goes for the show.

Honestly, they possibly could come up with something on the fly, but I think they would have been better off just making this a longer series. I guess they didn't anticipate how well received it was going to be. I'm sorry to see it end, I was really enjoying this show.

Wow! That was good! I need to digest it a little to formulate my thoughts, but I thought it was a great ending. I sat at the edge of my chair throughout the entire episode. Alexander Skaarsgard was *menacing*.

That really was very well done. I was also in suspense the entire time. It was terrifying when Perry found out about Celeste's apartment. Perry may not have checked their finances carefully, but he checked the cell phone.
I really like that even though it wound up exactly where the clues were leading us, it wound up not really being about that, it wound up being about the women's relationships with each other.
I misjudged Renata and her befriending of Jane. Renata's little speech at the beginning of the episode while she was putting on her makeup showed how she feels like everyone is judging every single thing she does. I can see that it must have felt good to make a genuine connection with someone not in much of a position to judge her.
This is a bit hokey, but you do realize at the end that any one of the five women would have helped any of the others with her problems if only she had known.

I didst deem it wast a little gamesome that {Spoiler}pacifist hippie queen Bonnie wast the one pushed Perry to his death. I withal liked the solidarity of friendship at the end. withal, book readers, I wouldst love to hark what the biggest differences 'twixt book and screen art upon this hour that tis aloft

Agreed, prisma. That whole episode was suspenseful. Very, very well done. I know it's getting a lot of attention, but I wish it wasn't pigeon holed as a women's show so much. As T & L said, it's really about marriage and being an adult.

Some of the cast have done interviews this week that brought up how certain male reviewers dismissed the show as a soap opera from the first couple of episodes.

Wow! That was good! I need to digest it a little to formulate my thoughts, but I thought it was a great ending. I sat at the edge of my chair throughout the entire episode. Alexander Skaarsgard was *menacing*. I know! I was on edge from the moment he brought Celeste her phone until we saw his body at the bottom of the stairs. I thought he would be the one to die, but I didn't know Bonnie would be the one to do it. They did a good job of conveying that she knew what was up with Perry and Celeste when she was watching them at the party, and when she started to follow him, I knew she would be the one to off him. Reese was excellent throughout and I hope she gets an Emmy nom, but damn, I think this is one of Nicole's best performances. Her terror at the party was palpable. She was great the whole episode - her fear and heartbreak when she set up her apartment (putting together IKEA furniture. Heh.), and just the general sadness at where her life ended up. And I liked how she handled Jane telling her it was Max who was hurting Amabella, and the way she started at Jane's "Maybe it's in Ziggy's DNA" comment, because she realized her own kids have monster DNA and she has to deal with that. Random thoughts - Chloe needs to rule the world one day. I love any first grader who responds to "How was your day?" with a world-weary sigh and "Well, you know, T.G.I.F." And the excellent shade she threw at Nathan when he was telling Maddy about how great Bonnie's singing is ("That's good to know"). Ziggy was adorable. Nathan was a dick. Poor Ed. And finally, go Team Lady. When Perry went after Celeste, they all - including Renata - didn't hesitate to try to fight him off. And clearly they all decided immediately to protect Bonnie (I know the cops said that if Celeste did it, she would only get community service since it would have been self-defense, but I don't know if that would have applied to Bonnie since she personally wasn't in danger).
