We had 100% totality and no clouds until it was over. It was quite surreal. I didn't get any photos of the actual eclipse, but I set my iphone up looking out on our yard and took a 10 minute video of light to dark to light. Dark is 5 minutes in.

Ugh. I am so pissed. I live in the one patch of North Carolina where it decided to cloud up. It actually rained in a few places. Of course the sun is out bright as ever now. I was with tons of people in a downtown park staring up at clouds. Mr. Tanyak came back closer to our house to pull Lil' Mr. Tanyak out of camp for a few minutes. They had better weather and were able to see a good bit.
But right now I feel like when you learn about some cool party and everyone else is like "OMG! It was the best party evah! Nothing will ever top it!!" Because that's what I feel like when I look at my FB feed. lol

OK, so for everyone who got cloudier-than-expected weather, let me try to offer up a few silver linings (get it? clouds? silver linings?) 1) I was impressed how many people here in Lawrence, KS (where it was cloudy AF) still appreciated what we saw, even if we only saw it for a few seconds through holes in the clouds. Sure, the effect is so much better if it's clear, but if any of you got even a glimpse of a sun covered to any extent, you saw something historic. 2) There's something cool about something that brings lots and lots of people together, especially if there are huge public gatherings to watch it. 3) The anti-science crowd kept their bullshit to a minimum as far as I can tell. 4) We'll always have this hilarious version of the Total Eclipse of the Heart video.

Awesome video, pamster! I am jealous. I live in Southeast PA and was inside at work. The sun was on the other side of the building from where I was, so it mostly just looked like it got slightly less sunny for a bit and then it was back to normal.

My eclipse lenses were probably counterfeit! But luckily I was prepared for this and mostly used my pinhole viewer with a few quick glances up.* We had great weather in Georgia and my campus's pedestrian mall was packed. I had class scheduled from 2-3:15 and I canceled it because that's the kind of power I have.
*begoggled. Also, I was happy to share but also some student ran off with them and I had to chase her down.

MLBoy has been trapped at a state park in WY. There were so many people they could not get out, and now the adults are completely fried. They made an unfortunate last minute decision not to take a tent or even sleeping bags. He's happily made himself a shelter so the ladies can sleep in the car and they are planning a very early departure in the morning. The mom was finally able to get a call out to me a little while ago. She said the eclipse was an amazing experience, and it was all worth it, and then she stifled a sob.

I'm surprised nobody aired the movie Ladyhawke. It's the ultimate eclipse movie.

We watched the eclipse over the Ballard Neighborhood of Seattle from the roof of my tenant's art studio building. I was very concerned because they didn't have the eclipse glasses and rushed down there so we could share the two pairs I had, but it turned out they borrowed some welding masks from another artist there. It was very cool to see and feel the sun dim in this odd, almost hazy way. It got noticably colder too. They sky remained clear except for some odd fog over in Puget Sound which kept threatening to creep over. One artist brought his little girl and she was very excited. Of the dogs, Uma became uneasy, while Amber took a nap through the whole thing.
