Ugh. So. Much. Snow. In. Ontario.
My city got 48cm on Monday and another 8cm this morning. I can only be so Canadian about it. I want spring and summer back already.

I hear that... I don't normally dread a snow storm.. but my facebook memories popped up and it was around this time of year that THE! WORST! WINTER!EVER! started- 2015 and maybe I'm having some ptsd from that... at least if that ever happens again that 200ft long driveway means we have more places to put snow than our 12 ft driveay- we had an Alp in our front yard that winter

It makes me shudder every time I see the photos, especially the one of a three foot high retaining wall completely buried in snow. And now they’re saying some areas might get near three feet tomorrow…I’m very worried.

That winter, my husband left for a 3 week work trip to Hawaii. I had two kids at home- a 4 year old and a nearly 1 year old. I had JUST changed jobs (which was super lucky). By the third nor'easter in as many weeks, I stopped shoveling his car out. I was like "dude I cannot" I had to shovel when my daughter was sleeping because she was (still is) a kid who you need to watch ALL the time. Three weeks turned into 4 and then when he finally managed to get a flight to the mainland, he ended up stranded in DC because... another snowstorm. He ended up getting a flight to Albany where my parents live and then he rented a car and drove the rest of the way home. It was INSANITY. He was like I saw the news stories, I heard you talk about it... but holy shit. You couldn't see his truck. It was completely buried. Luckily the truck was just a screw around vehicle and his main car was accessible but that truck was still in snow in May.
We're stocked up, everything will get charged up tonight- ipads, phones, my car. Trash and recycling is moved into the garage already*, so basically after dance my husband just has to move the snowblower into the garage
*we have to keep those stupid things in the garage because squirrels. They have eaten through 2 bins already. And then they have MMA fights over it. Now, watching squirrels literally have boxing matches and screaming at each other is in a weird way, entertaining, but I don't need carnage and also DPw said if they have to bring us a new trash can we'll be charged.

The apartment complex I lived in back then went without garbage pick up for three weeks, because it took that long for the snow removal crews to come clear out the sidewalks and the garbage trucks couldn't get to the garbage because of all the snow. The garbage just kept piling up in the alley next door to the extent that no one could walk through it. When my mom was able to visit in late February she was amazed by how much snow there was. She had me stand in front of one mountain for scale so she could show my dad a picture of it, because he wouldn't have believed it otherwise. I'm six feet tall and that particular pile was about twice my height if not more.

I'm not looking forward to this storm, but I'm starting to resent that a 2-day storm is being built up so much that it's going to stress me out for an entire week. Despite the dire weather reports using as much alarming descriptive language as possible (BOMB CYCLONE SNOWPOCALYPSE!) a late January blizzard with significant accumulation is totally normal in New England and we manage.
My mother has gotten herself so wound up worrying about power outages, which doesn't normally happen to us because of snow, and is convinced the power is going to go out, the pipes are going to freeze, and she's going to need emergency transport to a public shelter to keep from dying of hypothermia. None of that has ever happened in the past 20 years. And my siblings are winding her up further on our group text, which they should know not to do because they know she's extremely neurotic about the weather.

They have upgraded us to 30 inches now... so I'll be wine drunk by 10 AM tomorrow

This is the third Friday in a row that we will get snow. That's rare for central NC.
