Well, we are about to experience our first real Florida hurricane with Ian. I live in Fort Myers so a pretty close hit is looking likely. Currently planning to stay put unless things change drastically for the worse. Hope you are okay! I just saw footage of Fort Myers a few minutes ago and it looks like it's getting walloped. Hope all in the vicinity of this stay safe!

Just wanted to pop in and say that I am ok. My family and I got through without injury or too much damage to our homes. We have tons of trees down, debris and are without power or water at this time. Who knows how long it will be until that is restored.
That was hands down the most harrowing 12 or so hours of my life. 0 of 10, do not recommend riding out a direct hit from a Cat 4, almost 5, hurricane. Fort Myers is not ok, and Fort Myers Beach is basically wiped away. I had to come into work today (Medical Supplies Distribution) and made the mistake of leaving home in the dark. Very, very difficult and scary drive in, and it felt like a scene from The Walking Dead. The recovery from this storm will be very long and difficult. My heart is with those who lost their homes, their possessions, or in the worst cases their lives.

I'm glad to hear you're ok, suekel. The video from your area is terrifying and heartbreaking. Thank you. What's crazy is that we aren't seeing most of the footage because we have no electricity/internet. So most of what I have learned has been from friends and family in other states texting me updates, and some on social media. We are really quite cut off.

I'm experiencing heavy rain and wind in north central NC. Luckily my power hasn't gone off (knock wood). The storm will peak in the next few hours then move northwest. This hurricane it different from others I've experienced in that it's quite chilly outside- 55* F, about 12* C.
ETA: just little branches and leaves down here, and I experienced no loss of power. The grocery store a mile from me lost power for long enough that they had to empty their freezer cases, though!

If we don’t get power back soon, I’m going to lose my mind. Streets close to us have it, but not us yet.
ETA: Praise the sweet little baby Jesus and the hot linemen from out of state, we have electricity!!!

It’s -8 F in my town, wind chill -37 F, and my weather app says it’s “breezy.”
Next town over has a yellow triangle and a SEVERE WEATHER!!! Wind Chill Warning!!! In the same app.
But it’s breezy here…
