What a fascinating story. Thanks, fitz! The sculpture is in the top photo of the article. It has it's own Wikipedia entry. Well, I don't know how I missed it when looking at the article. I think I sort of filter out everything but the writing because there are so many ads. Or it's just conclusive proof that I'm an idiot! Either way, the sculpture is lovely.

Time for Change...Irelands abortion referendum very important insightful interesting piece. I mentioned Ann Lovett's story in it happened this day history thread Ann Lovett remembered more detail here than ever before. For Ann, Savita and far too many more who we will never know and all those left years ago at Magdalene Laundries, mother and baby homes and today for those ordering online pills and those leaving at departure gates ...time for change, time to trust women to know their own minds and bodies, time for Ireland to grow up, accept responsibilty and know abortion is happening anyway its just unsafe online tablets or over to UK !

While reading about Shania Twain and her flop opinions about U.S. politicians, I found out that Rob "I smoke crack and never said I wanted to eat that woman's pu$$y" Ford has a brother that's about to be elected to office in Canada. Umm...I thought you guys were the sane part of North America. What happened? I thought I was going to flee North when Twitter fingers took the rest of my sanity, but it looks like I'm heading south of the border. Olé!

I can't believe that Doug Ford won the leadership position. Talk about baggage. I think I said this when his brother was having his public meltdown that there is a family business that is quite successful and that the father encouraged Doug and Rob to get into politics so that the business could be run by the more competent and lesser known Ford brother. (source - my uncle who rubs shoulders with Eastern Canada's business elites and loves to gossip)

I can’t stand Katherine Wynne either, I can’t believe those are our choices. I’ll still vote for her over him but I hate that I have to. And I have some relatives who went to high school with the Ford brothers. They were indeed complete morons even back then.

I am right there with you, bronze. I cannot stand Wynne, but I feel I can't take the risk with NDP, and Horwath just rubs me the wrong way. I am really just praying Ford doesn't win, but am preparing myself for it. Ugh.
I have some friends who have voted for the Conservatives in the past and some are either not voting or voting Liberal for the first time just to try and stop the train wreck, but they don't feel good about it. Ugh.

It is indeed incredible, plot twist of 2018. In unsurprising twist it looking like turnip seems to be claiming some credit for this, I'm going with just because it(anything of worth) happens on his watch I'm reluctant to give him any due or am I being too cynical.

You don't have to give him any credit, he's already claiming it. Naturally. He's even going so far as claiming the Korean armistice is finally over, and the 2 nations have agreed on peace. All because of him of course. Agreeing on talking about certain topics is not the same as having a settled agreement, but then again this is how he does business.
And when the talks break down somewhere along the line, he will find a way to blame it on the Dems and Obama.
Also, let's be honest. If you're a foreign leader, knowing the orange turnip is everything but stable, has access to the nuclear codes, and know next to nothing how diplomacy works, I would be a bit more willing (or pretend) to have talks with my opponents.
