She's playing Rose Tico in Star Wars: The Last Jedi, and is thus the first Asian-American woman to land a lead role in a Star Wars movie. Mainly I started this thread to link to this photo gallery of her having the time of her life at the premiere and this post from Go Fug Yourself highlighting two moments from the premiere where she was crying from what I'm assuming is joy. I hope this is the big break she's been working for, she seems like a lovely woman and her obvious enthusiasm is so refreshing. |

I know literally nothing about her except her overwhelming joy to be in a Star Wars movie, which makes me like her.

I saw her name flash by in the credits and couldn't figure out why it was pinging my memory and then I remembered this thread, which stood out to me for being one of the few threads at the top of the page that weren't about the scandal sweeping Hollywood. |

Yes, I just came from seeing it, and I loved her in it. In fact, I loved all the female characters in it. I was thinking maybe they were trying to make up for how lame Padme turned out to be. What a sweetheart. I love that the director of the movie took his cues from her and how inquisitive and enthusiastic she was.

It's just so refreshing to see someone actually enjoying being part of something this big. People are so cynical and jaded or too-cool nowadays, so we don't get to see someone like her very often.
