Here's who was left out of the "In Memoriam" tribute (per CNN) David Ogden Stiers had passed only the day before. Who is responsible for the montage? It just seems like every year they make several glaring omissions. Someone who does not take good notes during the previous calendar year.

I just saw a headline that Robert Lopez became the first ever, in history, double EGOT winner. Holy crap, dude. Edit: Tom and Lorenzo wrote an awesome piece on E!'s foolish insistence on keeping Ryan Seacrest around for red carpet coverage (or what ended up being lack thereof). I have snarked a-PLENTY on Giuliana Rancic in my time, but they are absolutely right on this point: I don’t disagree about Giuliana. She should have had a career defining moment but I think she is absolutely garbage at her job and just doesn’t have the smarts or talent to turn this situation into a positive for her and other women. I agree that she is all-around terrible. They need to scrap both of them and start fresh with some new people. May I suggest Cat Saddler (with a huge pay raise) and Ross Matthews? I tuned in to E! for about 5 minutes and it was so cringeworthy I switched to ABC. Wendi Beverly-Goldberg-Covey-McLendon was a terrible interviewer who was wearing what looked like a recycled prom gown, but she was still preferable to Seacrest/Rancic.

Honestly, I’m asking without snark, why is finding someone who can interview so hard to find? I live streamed the People/Entertainment Weekly red carpet and it was a mess. All the hosts asking the same questions to everyone, talking over one another. Just a hot mess.

I kind of want to see the Fug girls do it. They seem fun, not mean spirited, smart, and I’ll bet they’d do a better job than anyone else who is currently doing it. Maybe fashion commentary by people who are actually in or have been in the industry in a more serious way. Tim Gunn? People that can have fun but know their stuff?

Hello, after my performance as the walking dead this morning at work, I'm now way too re-freshed after catching up on last night's sleep. It's 8pm over here. I'm really getting too old for this :-D But it was super fun watching it with you guys, so I don't really see myself not doing it again haha
So, let's see. With a bit of distance, I do think that there was a clear message sent to Hollywood's women last night: don't get too excited, things are not really changing, we're still awarding and protecting men who have no business being there. Gary Oldman, Kobe Bryant and Ryan Seacrest (and everyone else who isn't being publicly named) getting all praise and no criticism on a night like this year's Oscars makes me wonder how long it will take Hollywood to finally let go of men like them.

Ahh, okay. E!'s red carpet was so weird because no one would talk to him.
Why didn't they put Guiliana in Seacrest's position (besides her "looks like she smells like weed" comment about Zendaya a couple years ago, and she sucks, but that's another issue). If not, hire some new damn people. Pay them an equal wage. You can't tell me there aren't three or four women who are smart and experienced enough to handle the job.

Right now I'm imagining a 'Hollywood A-List' group text and everyone agreeing to just swerve when they see Seacrest on the carpet

I would guess it was more like a group text of their publicists, but yeah.

Chiming in very late to say that I was overall pleased with how the awards played out at the ceremony, although the only surprise for me was The Shape of Water snagging best pic. I liked it, but feel the other selections were generally better.

They also left off Rose Marie from the In Memoriam. At previous awards shows, E! would have two stations for interviews. I was surprised they kept Giuliana up at the Roosevelt Hotel and had Ryan on the carpet. And I agree that she should be pissed. I think E! could’ve still used him, like as a roving reporter back stage or something. I know he’s their cash cow. And it looked like he was stuck at the beginning with no staging. There was what looked to be two Asian journalists that were literally right next to him/behind him. It was just a weird location. I actually think ABC had something to do with that part. Their red carpet show started earlier than usual. Speaking of ABC’s show....where was Lara Spencer or Robin Roberts? Why was Wendy/Mrs. Goldberg doing interviews? I don’t think Michael Strahan does a good job. I miss Joan Rivers.
