I finally got around to watching the first episode of this on Friday, and wow--I found it far more interesting, engaging, and engrossing than American Crime Story's The Assassination of Gianni Versace, which I actually liked a lot.
Biggest takeaways: Donald Sutherland is amazing as J. Paul Getty, Sr.--he absolutely nails the selfishness, narrow vision, and hedonism of someone who never takes no for an answer; Harris Dickinson plays J. Paul III as the exact opposite of his grandfather--friendly, unassuming, and trying hard to overcome the Poor Little Rich Kid syndrome; and the ending of Episode 1 suggests that viewers might be taken on a very interesting ride if they aren't familiar with the basic synopsis of this story (which, admittedly, I am not--I had a basic awareness of the story, but the very last scene of the first episode had me lunging for the Google machine to do some background research...).
Anyone else watching? The acting alone is well worth the time invested, and the visuals are stunning as well...

I dvr’ed the first episode. Haven’t gotten around to watching it yet. Sounds like I need to set a season pass.

I watched episode 1 last night so late that episode 2 also got added to the page. I found Paul II and III kind of annoying but the rest of the cast great. It kind of takes a sort of cheesy turn on the second episode with Brendan Fraser’s character doing a Frank Underwood-esque breaking of the fourth wall. I didn’t finish episode 2 but I’m curious to see how it goes.

So this is the TV show version of the recent movie of the same events? I haven't even heard of this one.

Thanks for the reminder, divasahm. I had this on my list of things to watch this week.

I thought Brendan Fraser helped provide a little kindness to the show. And that last scene might have made me sniffle a little bit...

I thought this episode captured the confusion of everyone involved in the days following the kidnapping, and Brendan Fraser was so good! Some of the story was hard for me to follow because I was distracted by other stuff happening while I was watching, but when I went back and rewatched the second half of the show, I realized the confusion was really part of the plot--they're doing a great job of putting the viewer in the center of the action.
I'm going to have to watch All The Money In The World after this, just to compare performances.

Finally had a chance to watch the first two episodes. It's pretty good. Definitely liked Brendan Fraser's appearance this week. This also reminded me I need to watch "All the Money in the World" soon.

What does this show not need? Episodes without Brendan Fraser and Duckface, that's what.
