I also felt like Jackson was believing that he was going to be Ally's decline because of all his bullshit and his demons.

I saw this movie today and I loved the music. The chemistry was great, Gaga was great. But here's my issue: I felt that the manager was a dick and that he was responsible for Jackson's suicide and Ally never finds out what that bastard did. I think though that was a weak spot in the movie, because I really couldn't see the manager's point, especially when he said, "everybody thinks Allly's a fool for going back to you." I was like, dude, all he did was pee on stage, it's not like he hit her. I mean the guy was in a rehab, he was trying to get sober. I wanted to smack the shit out of the guy and tell him to go back to Australia/New Zealand/South Africa, or wherever he was from, so to me that was a weak part of the movie. Maybe they should have had a scene where Jackson hits Ally in public, and then I would have agreed with the guy. I did think that Ally sold out, but I got her reasoning for selling out. She had been told for so long that she was ugly, that she could never make it because of the way she looked, that when someone actually thought she looked good, it kind of went to her head.

I saw it this afternoon and I came away thinking Gaga is really talented, far more than I was giving her credit for. I'll put this in a spoiler, even though it's speculation on my part and not really a plot point. Spoiler I think the trajectory of Ally's career is similar to what many artists go through and I assumed once she got enough power she would dump the parts that were not authentic to her.

I’ve been hearing The Shallow on the radio a lot the past couple of days. I don’t recall this kind of push before. Back in the day, you would have heard movie music right when the movie came out. So I’m guessing obvious award push.

So I’m 2 1/2 years late and a dollar short, but I finally saw this over the weekend. I loved it! I thought Lady Gaga was really good and Bradley Cooper was amazing. Granted he looked kind of greasy sometimes, but I think the longer hair, beard and a few extra pounds work for him. I thought they had fantastic chemistry, I kind of melted every time he would look at her on stage while she was singing. I’ve also decided that I like “Shallow” a ton more when he’s somewhat sweaty and playing guitar. Lol The scene in the movie is way hotter than whatever they did at the Oscars.
Like someone else mentioned, my main quibble is I wish they had been a little more clear in how much time was passing. At first, I thought things were moving quickly. But then I realized that he wouldn’t have gone from playing huge stadium shows to conventions in six months. And I wish we’d seen more of us Ally’s friend. He seemed cute and fun.
But I watched a two hour-plus movie without thinking it was that long, so that’s a plus in my book. I’ll probably watch it again this weekend.
