Anyone else watching this series on Netflix? I'm only thru episode 4 but I've gotten pretty sucked in (damn you work!). It many ways it's a family drama that just happens to feature a haunted house and ghosts. The show shifts back and forth between the siblings as adults in the present day and when they were kids living in the house. It starts off mild on the fear scale but it seems with each episode the show cranks it up. Bowler hat ghost that hoovers around will haunt my dreams!

I watched the whole series, and enjoyed it up until the last episode (maybe last two), which really put a dent in my enjoyment of it. Not the tone of the ending (which some people objected to), but some things just really muddied the waters and didn't make a whole lot of sense and left some frustrating questions for me.

Tom and Lorenzo recommended this strongly for the family drama. They discussed the flawed parts of it but still said it was worth watching, so I was going to start it next. Tom comes from a large family with almost the same mix of siblings as the one on the show, and he felt they really nailed the way siblings from big families interact with each other.

I really enjoyed it. I do think the last episode was a bit meh, but overall, the show kept me hooked (I think I binged it all in two days).

I loved the book. I loved the Julie Harris movie. I'm trying to love this series, but my laptop processor is dying. If there's even the slightest bit of buffering, ALL the women in the family look alike. I'd be a whole lot more terrified if I weren't so freaking confused! I do think it's a cool idea to take the original characters and turn them in to the Lutz children.* I also appreciate adding a "Shirley."
*I can't believe how many people fell for The Amityville Horror. A nation raised on Scooby Doo and they refuse to understand that a haunting was faked for real estate fraud.

We've been slowly watching this and finished the sixth episode last night. And YES, the horror has been ramping up with each episode, I ended up having a nightmare last night.
The acting seems to have gotten better with each episode also.

The simplest effects are always the most terrifying. Mr. D. Angling Floating-Feet is sticking with me in the most relentless way and it's so obvious how it was done!

That guy completely freaked me out too. That's when I thought, "Okay, I need to watch something else to get this out of my head before I go to bed."

Finished it and VERY disappointed in the final episode. Too much talking and spoon feeding of answers to questions. I read there might be a season 2, if so I hope they go with the house and ghost origins.
