My sisters and I have tickets to see it this weekend. I'm prepared for it to be just ok but I'm hoping it will actually be really good.

I found the original annoying and boring and obnoxious, and Julie Andrews deserved the Oscar more for The Sound of Music than this artificial tripe.
With that said, I kind of want to see the new version. I must be getting old in my sentimentality.

I actually want to see the new one too. I've never been a big fan of the first one. I liked the songs okay. But Emily Blunt's and LMM's PR has been so charming that I'm sold.

I'm pretty sure that LMM would have to murder puppies live on camera for me to not think everything he does is incredible. I'm such a fan girl. I'm also weirdly glad he is just acting in it and didn't have anything to do with the music.

I anxiously await a review from someone here who has going to see it. Because to me the trailers look very try hard and cloying. I really like Emily Blunt and LMM so I am disappointed that they are doing nothing to convince me to see this movie.

We just got back from seeing it and it was so charming. I really enjoyed it. Besides being a sequel, it’s also an homage to the first movie. Each song and sequence in MPR has a counterpart in the original. You will find it all familiar. I did cry a couple of times, like when Mary appears for the first time. And there is a really poignant song about the mother of the younger Banks children.
Emily Blunt was amazing and LMM was his usual cute self. The children were outstanding and I loved little Georgie. There are a couple of fun cameos. There’s a sweet little love story that I wasn’t expecting. Overall I thought it was a perfect holiday family film.
Like the first movie, it’s long and you and/or kids might get a little antsy.

I thought it was charming and really liked it. My sisters both thought it was draggy. Now, my sisters are quite a bit younger than me, so I don't know what effect the nostalgia factor played in our differing opinions. Also, I was a huge reader as a kid and had read all of the books, so I really liked seeing all the bits pulled from the various sequels. My sisters weren't familiar with any of that, so maybe that played a role, too. Loved the acting. I just wish they had chosen a Michael who didn't look like a ten year old kid wearing a fake mustache, lol.

I did not like it. I thought it was lacking. Everything was there- the costumes, the music, the acting. But to me, it was lackluster. It all just fell short.
Maybe I am being a Scrooge, but I was disappointed.
