Alright. After reading all the effusive praise for "Schitt's Creek", I finally started watching.
It's funny... I don't think I'll ever love, or even like Chris Elliott, but Catherine O'Hara is divine, and I want to be friends with Dan Levy.

On the most recent Tom and Lorenzo podcast, they were talking about Schitt's Creek and they mentioned Chris as the weakest link in the show. Tom pointed out that he's very much an 80s comedian, and that style of comedy feels out of place here.
I did enjoy him way back in the day when he made guest appearances on David Letterman. There was one bit about hair plugs that was really funny.

I think Chris Elliott peaked as Amy's kid brother onEverybody Loves Raymond.

I agree with Tom and Lorenzo's assessment. The cast is stellar except Chris, and yes, he's stuck in the 80s.
In other TV news, I watched the new "Good Place" last night. It's so meta, and the running jokes are golden. I love it so much. I feel it's the one place Trump can't spoil for me.
Maya saying "apparently on earth, I'm black" was spot on, and I loved Jason and Janet together. Her saying: "I'm not a girl, but I'd very much like to go out on a date with you sometime" was so sweet. I'm rooting for those two crazy kids.
I'm still not a fan of Derek, but the rest of the cast makes up for it. And --Janet calling him her "son/booty call" was awesome.
There were just so many great lines in this episode. I'll be rewatching for sure.
"There's this chicken sandwich, that if you eat it, it means you hate gay people and it's delicious"!

I never would have thought of that but I can see it. Gillian's been dating the creator of The Crown for a couple of years now, IIRC. I can't wait to see the new cast. It feels like it's been forever since the last season dropped. |
