The Rookie and I have started Gotham, it’s not bad, but The lead actor looks like he’s 12. |

I just finished watching Sex Education on Netflix. It ended the season rather abruptly in my opinion and did not take the premise as far as I would have liked it but it’s still a decent show. I came and stayed for Gillian Anderson who plays the main characters mother, who is a sex therapist. The main character is a high school boy who uses what he’s learned being the son of a sex therapist to give out advice to his fellow students. There’s all the usual high school comedy tropes — geeky boy in love with unobtainable girl, gay best friend, bully, mean girls, wanting to be popular, etc. But the writing does subjugate some of these tropes just enough to keep it interesting. And, like I said, I stayed for Gillian Anderson, who’d does a great job playing the mom, who wants to be the perfect “woke” mom but can’t help herself from violating all kinds of boundaries trying to figure out what’s going on in her son’s life.

Gotham is a guilty pleasure of mine, and yes - the actor playing Bruce Wayne was literally around 12 in season one (12 or 13). Season One Gotham is a little different than the rest of the seasons, as they later decide to really sort of lean into the insanity and let the villains gnaw on the scenery (though they are great at it). If you don’t think about things too hard, it’s a lot of fun. |

The Punisher, season 2, driven entirely by Jon Bernthal's captivating performance. The series has weaker characters this season, and the plot is basically fight scenes strung together. But Bernthal is fabulous.

But Bernthal is fabulous. I don't know why, I LOVED all of the Marvel shows until Iron Fist and then that was such a thud, that I can't watch them. Luke Cage had some pacing problems, so I couldn't finish the second season. I haven't started the latest Punisher or Daredevil...and damn it, I need/want out of this Marvel funk before Jessica Jones hits! |

Did anyone else watch the premier of "I Am The Night", with Chris Pine on TNT? I watched it last night and am still trying to decide how I feel about it. Even Previously TV doesn't have a thread yet.

I thought it started out a little slow, but the end picked up. And I love that they filmed in the actual Sowden house. I also hadn't realized it's based on a true story and Fauna Hodel was a real person. |
