In general, I would like to see (in the U.S.) more environmentally friendly choices subsidized rather than having less green choices taxed. (I would also like to see greater emphasis/acknowledgment of the fact that individual consumers have very little impact and we really need stronger corporate regulation, but one pipe dream at a time is probably enough.) The amount we spend on highways versus public transit is ridiculous and we have so little investment in environmentally-conscious infrastructure. I really like a lot of what I've read about the Green New Deal, it would be cool if even a fraction of that gets implemented.
Mugsy, I would guess that a lot of people think 'if the bags are here, they must be necessary,' but I agree it's an absurd thing to do!

You're right. That's so depressing. But it absolutely rings true.
It makes me think about how "Mother Earth" is always described as female. She's here to serve and be raped. The big joke is that Mother Earth will totally be ok--we are the ones who won't. I just don't understand how the client change deniers can't see that.

That's really interesting. I would take it further by positing that industrial masculinity sees women in the same way - something to be used and tossed aside, without any perception of destroying them. Like prisma said, Mother Earth. It translates to actual women too.

Koalas ‘Functionally Extinct’ After Australia Bushfires Destroy 80% Of Their Habitat Functional extinction is when a population becomes so limited that they no longer play a significant role in their ecosystem and the population becomes no longer viable. While some individuals could produce, the limited number of koalas makes the long-term viability of the species unlikely and highly susceptible to disease. No words.

I've been trying to process this intellectually to protect my heart.
