I'm also interested in solar panels. Worth the investment? I am looking into buying a new car and I want to get a hybrid. I discovered that my state taxes hybrids at a higher rate to make up for the taxes they won't make from gas. Annoying, but won't change my decision. Ohio does the same, but we did the math, and the $200 extra fee when we got plates for the Bolt EV works out to the same as the per/gallon tax on gas (maybe even a bit less!). We still use the roads, so it’s fair, but it IS a but rough all at once. But then, I haven’t really noticed the electric bill going up from charging the car, so WIN! My buddy is a science teacher and has solar panels. He is happy with them, and the monthly discount n the bill, but it will be years before they “pay for themselves.”

I had this typed out in Weather thread but changed my mind and putting it here. This. Is. Not. Normal. This is very serious warning of what is ahead. UK has broken its heat record as predicted today 40.2 Celsius recorded in London and I’m watching Sky news reporting on a grass fire ( there are many ) that has now hit houses in an area called Wennington Essex about 20 miles out of London. 15 fire engines in attendance. Live Helicopter camera showing a row of houses and a few are actually burning. I hope those in the area had time to be evacuated to safety. Aerial shots very scary linkEdit London fire brigade have declare a Major Incident over this and other fires across London.

We've had 28 days where the temperature has been over 90 degrees F. I play an outdoor sport and our practices have been cancelled for the next two weeks because of the heat. Our coach is new to town and he said, "We'll wait until it cools off," and I'm thinking I'll see you in Oct. Two years ago it was 90 degrees until the middle of Oct. and didn't really cool off until Halloween.
This is not normal. We used to have four seasons in my state. We now have winter and summer and maybe two weeks of spring and two weeks of fall.
I told my staff that on days we work in the office and the temp is supposed to be over 90 that there is no dress code. Wear shorts. I don't care. This is dangerous and I'm not going to adhere to some outdated notion of business casual when people and animals are dropping in the streets.

Thinking about the climate and what the people of this planet are facing fills me with existential dread. This needs to be addressed at a global level and the political and coporate leaders who are supposed to be making real change can't or won't do a damn thing.

Things are getting dire and it seems nothing being done . I’m disappointed the Democrats haven’t tried harder to push legislation through. But Here is a little bit of hope These Scientists Believe They've Discovered How To Reverse Climate Change“ Researchers at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology believe they have found a way to negate the effects of global warming or maybe even reverse them entirely. MIT's solution involves the creation of "several thin film-like silicon bubbles" that would then be joined together in space "like a raft." The raft in question would be roughly the size of Brazil and, if the scientists are correct, could provide an extra buffer between the planet and the sun's harmful rays.”

I'm sure Joe Manchin will find a way to stop them.
