Based on the 2014 movie by New Zealand comedians Jermaine Clement and Taika Waititi, the mockumentary about vampire flatmates has made a successful (and hysterical) transition from film to TV series. The setting has also moved from New Zealand to Staten Island, which is funny in itself.
The three traditional vampires Nandor, Laszlo and Nadja, are joined by bespectacled cubicle troll Colin Peterson, an energy vampire who alternately pisses off and bores the living and undead, feeding off their negative energy. Also in the cast is hapless Guillermo, who has been familiar-zoned by Nandor, and Lazslo and Nadja's own succession of familiars, who have the longevity of a Spinal Tap drummer.
This show gets better and better every week, and has just been picked up for a second season. Like Nandor the Relentless, the great acting and writing, well, never relents.

I love this show and the movie. The main cast is brilliant and I can't wait for the return of Gregor/Jesh/Jenk/Jenj and his inevitable beheading.

Loved the movie and this show does not let that down. It’s so much fun!

The celebrity-laden "The Trial" was epic. I'm tempted to add "The Vampiric Council........Level B" to the floor directory in my office building.

Sorry for the double-post, but hard to believe the season one finale is this week. Guillermo sends off the vampires' DNA to one of those ancestry sites. Trailer is here.

I watched the first two episodes last night and love it! I can't even pick a favorite character because they're all hilarious!

Guillermo is descended from Van Helsing. That is perfection.

Finished the season--what a fun watch! I'm still saying "Mike/Fucking Mike" from the orgy episode.

Guillermo is descended from Van Helsing. That is perfection. His devastation at realizing that he's descended from vampire hunters was amazing... also eating garlic and throwing holy water on Nando-- perfection indeed. I genuinely laughed out loud for the entire episode. I loved Nando wanting to visit Madeline, and then going to church when she died and bursting into flames and being forced to leave. It's just an unexpected delight. I can't wait for season 2. I never thought I'd love vampires (I blame Twilight for my hatred).

I like to think that somewhere Bela Lugosi and Jonathan Frid are laughing themselves sick.
Ancestry DNA-->Van Helsing! Still giggling.
