The card is nice! IMO that is exactly the right level of color matching/coordination for a family photo.

I saw the "don't touch me" clip, it's right at the end. Will casually touches her arm while talking. Kate is obviously moving back and forth on the bench to adjust herself. As IF she'd show resentment to him like that, surrounded by cameras, at a fest to honour happy, devoted volunteers. Nothing to see here.

There were some articles mentioning that there was odd editing of that section of the program did not make this look the way it really was intended. I don't think there was any negativity behind it at all and it just goes to show how much they are critiqued to the most minute movements when in public. All these "Kate snubs Will" or "Kate gives cold shoulder to Will" were really grasping. Will there ever come a time when they can stop referring to her as Kate Middleton and use Kate, Duchess of Cambridge or Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge? Camilla is referred that way and I think Kate has earned it by now to no longer refer to her with her maiden name.

As with Meghan and Harry's "balcony incident", I don't read too much into something so ambiguous and brief unless it appears to be part of a pattern. If Kate appears to recoil from William's touch in public a couple more times, I might think there's something going on. The last time I saw William and Kate interact with one another was on the Pakistan tour and they seemed happy and their physical interaction was at their normal level (which is on the less tactile side). As for the names, I have never minded Kate continuing to be called "Kate Middleton". The media uses it interchangeably with her official titled name. I don't think it's a snub, I think it's familiarity. And ultimately, I think it benefits her for the public to feel connected to her as a real person and not just a title. All the same is true for Meghan - I don't think the media is trying to demean her because they still call her "Meghan Markle" sometimes.

It's just the constant interchanging that annoys me, especially when it's done within the same article. Just to be consistent with how she's being referred to at the very minimum. I never thought they were snubbing her (or Meghan), but to refer to her with zero titles seems lame at this point.

There are actually documentaries produced in the last 5 or 6 years, where you can watch "royal reporters" still bragging that they "made Diana who she was". I think a lot of them feel this way.

I'm not a monarchist so I have zero problem with Kate or Meghan being referred to using their maiden names rather than titles. If they would use Catherine Cambridge or Meghan Sussex that would be one thing but I'm not going to get into a snit over them not being called the Duchess of Cambridge or Meghan, Duchess of Sussex or whatever.

Sure. But these are tabloids that spend about 1/2 of their column inches exclaiming to the public about all the gross and extreme violations of royal protocol that are going on right under Her Majesty's nose. So, either: 1) they are deliberately "breaking protocol" with the correct names and laughing up their sleeves at (especially) Kate and Meghan, or 2) they don't actually give a shit about royal protocol. I actually suspect it's both. I mean, when was the last time they printed a reference to Sophie as Sophie Rhys-Jones?

I don't read a ton about the royals but don't usually royal-friendly publications like People refer to Kate and Meghan using their maiden names as well? Of course there are the known bad actors, but it seems like media across the board does this. I can't recall the last time I read anything about Sophie Rhys-Jones on anything other than Go Fug Yourself.
