Saw this on Twitter this morning and knew my 20-year old daughter would be pissed again. And when she finally got up at 11 AM, she was! "Mom, I am not okay with this." (Because she didn't get to look forward to it.)

I had such big plans for all the things I was going to do while stuck at home during a pandemic lockdown and have accomplished none of it. Apparently Taylor got the same memo and unlike me she actually read it.

As a non-fan of Folklore, I am not as excited as I would be normally about a TSwift release.
Of course I will be still be streaming ASAP.

She has another song with Bon Iver in Evermore. And I swear, if that song makes me cry actual tears like "Exile" did, my very fragile state might completely crumble. It's why I removed Bon Iver songs from my playlists because his voice is so haunting to me.

He also sang it just a little differently then the album recording and I think that's what pushed it over the edge. And he sang beautifully and hauntingly with a FACE MASK ON!!!

I have so many feels during this pandemic on so many levels -- I've been afraid to listen to folklore for the fear that it's going to be so deep and make me cry more than usual. Should I expect the same as evermore? I can appreciate her taking this time to really let the creative juices flow and love that she's just continued to let that pour into a second album. I just need to find the right state of mind to listen to it!

Listening now, so far it’s very similar to folklore, which makes sense as they’re sister albums. Got a kick out of No Body, No Crime- it’s like a new Goodbye Earl, plus it has my faves HAIM!
I love Taylor, but folklore hasn’t really been in high rotation for me, and I’m sure evermore won’t either. Not because folklore isn’t a gorgeous album, I love many of the songs on there. I’m just personally not in a headspace where I can listen to haunting sad songs, it just makes me more sad. I feel so much better when I throw on my headphones and have a dance party by myself. Sorry Taylor, I still love you and if we’re ever able to go to a concert ever again you’re at the top of my list.

I'm on my 3rd listen. I love the mid-tempo songs. The CW could create a show based on TS songs set in a small town high school where Betty, James, Inez, and Dorothea all have these little dramas. So much teen heartbreak!

I hadn't listened to the song at all until I read this thread, so I heard the original and then this version back to back and agree that the little tweaks were gorgeous. And the face mask actually really added to the video for me, in a weird Phantom of the Opera kind of way. It'll be interesting to see how that ages, if people will realize that it was a pandemic and that's why his face is covered like an Old West bandit.
