Or even my "go to" Liz Phair. I've loved her forever. That said I bought folklore and a couple of Taylor's other recent albums. I liked a few songs of hers over the years, but I dig the darker stuff and like that she's been leaning in that direction. But is she the best indie folk/pop artist ever? Not by a long shot. Liz Phair rocks!! I mean, just check out any Lilith Fair lineup... Joining the list of album inspiration theories is Rebekah Harkness, whose Rhode Island house is owned by Taylor. I like your music tastes. Another artist I love is Rachael Yamagata. I can't stop listening to her music. As far as your theory is concerned, I've heard the Harkness angle too. Definitely plugs into it. I love analyzing song lyrics. In the past, Taylor's have been a bit too on the nose, but she seems to be moving away from that a bit too.

Reporting back on subsequent listens of Folklore, and I may be done with it? The music is high quality, well written, and well made. And on Exile, I could just listen those harmonies over and over. But one thing I noticed? This album makes me very melancholy. The album is too much the same, for me, and the sameness is all....kind of a bummer? I was wondering why I was feeling so down after listening to it, and I realized it was the album, with all of the dreariness. Or at least it was to me.
It is also an album that feels very autumn, and I find autumn incredibly depressing.
So yeah, no more folklore for me.

Reporting back on subsequent listens of Folklore, and I may be done with it? I think I'll end up listening to the album again during the fall, when the leaves change color and I can wear a cardigan. As an album though, I did listen to it a few times before I wasn't in the mood anymore. I still think it's an excellent album, I just feel it didn't match my current feeling.

Yeah, TayTay is taking up residence in my head, sharing the apartment with Springsteen that is reserved for artists I like a lot, as long as I don’t have to listen to their music.

OT but I finally watched "Springsteen on Broadway" on Netflix. His comments about the state of the country (back in 2018) were very moving, also sad and defeatist which made me nervous. Give me TayTay's rightous anger!

As it's become full winter weather in my neck of the woods and I've been cooped up at home, I have been listening to Folklore on repeat and am so, so excited to have another album in a similar vein. Also, The National is my favorite band, and if you'd have told me a year ago that I'd be getting The National and Tay collabs, I'd have told you were crazy. I think this is where I admit I've gone from a Taylor hater to a full on fan.
