I could've sworn there was a topic for this but maybe I've seen it discussed at What Are You Watching. Season three just dropped and we're three episodes in so no spoilers here but maybe we can discuss the first two seasons? I love the humor but am mostly in it for the clothes and sets.

The show looks amazing and is pretty funny. It definitely has its faults, though. Like Joel. Joel sucks and the show keeps trying to tell me doesn’t. He does. Enough already.
I’ve only seen the first few episodes of season three and I’m glad that Midge is finally seeing through her privilege in regards to Suzy. Her blindness to Suzy’s financial situation was almost downright ugly. Now Midge is starting to see how dependent Suzy is on her for income, and how she really doesn’t generate enough for Suzy.

Jesus, that season finale was ROUGH.
I couldn't watch the scene that put the kibosh on things and gave us the ending I wasn't expecting. (not wanting to spoil anything) It was so cringe-inducing it left me really unsettled and just couldn't believe it went down the way it did. When will Midge learn to not be so forthcoming about some things when doing her act?
Ouch and Yikes.

I had to leave the room after Susie heard the news on who won the fight and during Midge's act because I just knew there would be fall out.

I knew what was going to happen as soon as Reggie told her what to talk about. I mean, I get that when she riffs it is basically stream of consciousness for her, but Midge! Get a filter! This is the second time she basically ruined her career by going without a filter (and this time what she did was much, much worse than just mouthing off about Sophie, who kinda sucks).
I saw what was going on with Susie a million miles away too and I kinda feel like she got off easy (in that right when she was really in a bad spot a coincidence got her out of it), but I guess they couldn't have two life/career-ruining things going on at the same time.
I really liked the evening out Midge had with Lenny Bruce. I kinda hope that's the last time we see him because it would make a very satisfying if very bittersweet end to his character (though if it is 1960 in the world of the show and they follow reality with him relatively closely, he's gonna be around for six more years and I guess he and Midge could cross paths again).

I thought it was interesting that what happened with Sophie is the same thing that happened with Midge-they choked and relied on safe “schtick” and it all fell apart. If Midge would have signed the contract (why didn’t she do that?!), could Shy have dismissed her?

When he just kept going on and on and on about "The real Shy" and trying to drill it in her head that she knows Shy and blah, blah, blah. I thought, "OH, SHIT. No. No. No. NO!" I swear, she's not stupid, naive, maybe...but I mean, she could have asked, "I mean, are we talking personal? Does his home audience know him deeply and personally?" Or something to that effect. Ugh, so ridiculous.

I just started watching this. I'm five episodes into season 1. I love the sets and costumes. It does seem a little 'gilmore girlish' at times, but I'm enjoying it.

Just finished up Season 4 and was kind of disappointed. Every episode felt like they had ten different writers not working together at all, every scene was a mess. I'd love to discuss in detail but guess I'd need spoiler after spoiler. Like, {Spoiler}When Midge was telling Suzie about her lead up to the out of nowhere little fling with the married man, just to be a set up for her messing up her Jackie Kennedy luncheon gig. Ugh

I think that knowing there was going to be a season 5 and that would be the final season, everything was a placeholder and a set-up for that.
