He's so, so, sweet. I just want to give him a huge, bear hug.

YAY for Ang!
A well-deserved win. Loved how shy/overjoyed he looked when they called his name. Also, loved how he thanked the characters of Jack and Ennis for teaching him about love.

I have such love for Ang Lee. I thought he had talent ten years ago, but now I'm ready to call him one of the greats with his stunning filmography. No Oscar loss changes that.

I just watched Ang Lee's backstage press conference on CNN and I love the man even more than before. He seems like someone with alot of integrity and class. I'm always impressed by people that can be honest and gracious. For example, I loved his answer to how he got so successful: Hard work and being a talented filmmaker. lol. You go Ang! ITA.

I watched him at the Governor's Ball, shown on E!'s post-Oscar coverage, and he admitted he was a bit surprised by the Oscar going to Crash after he'd gotten Best Director. He actually mimicked a person's body jolting backwards in shock and then spoke very briefly about how BBM had won so much up to then.
So, he wasn't completely humble but I didn't care. He was honest and truthful, and why should he have to pretend that it wasn't a big surprise? Better to be honest than a phony lying fake who is just giving typical Hollywood lipservice. Especially as he was so damn grateful afterwards over the Oscar he *did* get.
Anyway, on the same E! show, they showed Jewel going into the Vanity Fair party. She was with her BF, who wore a black stetson and looked very average, if that. They were going to do the tour of all the parties and I couldn't figure out WHY she was even there. So imagine my surprise when she said she'd starred in one of Ang Lee's films!!! I just about fell over in my seat from disbelief.
According to IMDb, she had a part in Ride with the Devil which starred Tobey Maguire. I've never seen it which might explain my confusion but, still, I was quite taken aback. Jewel & Ang Lee don't seem to go in the same sentence. Especially not the way she put it, because it created the impression that she'd *starred* in one of his films.

Forgot to say, he's the first Asian and perhaps the first non-white Best Director winner. I don't think there has been a black or Latino winner?
He's made such lovely films and manages to give a personal touch to all the varied topics.

I love Ang Lee. And was so glad to see him win. He's so talented and I don't care what AMPAS decided, BBM is the picture of the year and it will be remembered for a long, long time. Go Ang!

Golden Globe-winning movie Brokeback Mountain was named last year's Best Motion Picture at the 17th annual Gay And Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) Awards in New York City Monday night. Oscar-winning director Ang Lee received a standing ovation when he took to the stage to accept the award on behalf of everyone who worked on the heart-breaking tale of a secret love affair between two cowboys.
He told the audience, "Finally, an award that actually means something. (It will probably be) the very last award I will accept for Brokeback Mountain. And to end the journey here tonight is like coming home. The fact is Brokeback Mountain has helped to change the world." GLAAD was formed in New York City in 1985 in response to biased AIDS coverage by tabloid newspapers and news stations. - IMDB
I think that line was pure class.

He seems like a really nice guy.
But I've been disappointed in his work since Hulk.
