I really want to scream because the police spokesman was all, "He had a really bad day yesterday and this was the result." Yeah, well, I'm willing to bet the victims and their families had a worse day. I'm so tired of all the excuses that only seem to come up when the shooter is white. If he weren't white, I'm positive the cops wouldn't be saying anything like that. I've had really bad days, lots of them. And yet, I haven't gunned down eight people. If he weren't white, he wouldn't be alive, the police who stopped him on the freeway would have taken care of that. |

There currently seems to be a genre of TikToks that say "Show me you're X without telling me you're X." Last night I saw one that said "Show me the shooter is white without telling me the shooter is white." All that is included is a screenshot of an article about it that had "Shooter was taken into custody" circled in the subhead. Which is absolutely true. Any other race and the suspect would be dead.

Yes, yes, and yes. White gunmen only seem to die if they commit suicide before getting caught. He killed 8 people. I don't care if it was the best or worst day of his life.

I'm Chinese in Atlanta and have never lived in fear but maybe I should?! Christ. My parents have been staying with me and my dad likes to go out for walks by himself. I've basically forbidden him from leaving the house without me with him. Although my area is relatively diverse and safe, all it takes is some nutjob driving by to see an older asian man shuffling his feet as he walks and push him over. Maybe I'll relent once I get my parents their own cellphones but for right now, I can't deal with having to worry about some jerk doing something to my parents. I'm even thinking about switching over to an iphone so I can track my dad as he walks. I also hate that they're saying he's addicted to sex. I'm sorry, there are plenty of people addicted to sex and most of them have refrained from killing people. Just like the sports broadcaster who blames his "low sugar" from his diabetes on why he said something racist. I hate the world right now. This shooter brings up reasons to why I'm always hesitant to get serious with a caucasian man because my fear that he'll kill me or commit domestic abuse is real. |

The shooter walked into a gun shop a few hours before his spree and bought the gun and the ammo.
In Georgia, you can do that. You have to wait 24 hours to get an abortion, but if you’re having a bad day you can walk into any gun shop and walk out armed to the teeth a few minutes later.
Also, the cop who said he was just having a bad day also shared a picture on Facebook of a t-shirt he bought with a “China virus” “joke”.
So, not at all surprising to me that he seemed sympathetic to the shooter and his bad day and wasn’t too concerned about who paid for his bad day.
ETA: Also, a man from Texas was arrested outside Kamala Harris’ official residence today. In his car he had an AR-15, over 100 rounds of unregistered ammunition, and five 30 round magazines. I guess he was also having just a bummer of a day.

Volcanic Eruption happening in Iceland now!Apparently the region near Reykjavik, small earthquakes have shook the region in recent weeks in an area that hasn't seen volcanic activity for at least 800 years!
