Eh...is anyone really still invested in the constant "will they or won't they get together" saga? Are we going to be reading the same stories years from now every time Harry crosses the pond? It's really tedious at this point. Every time Harry visits the UK, the stories are the same: -Charles is going to pretend his schedule is booked up. (If they are mostly estranged, and they appear to be, Charles doesn't need to be coming up with "I've just got so much paperwork" as a reason not to get together.) -Harry is going to stay at a hotel instead of a royal residence, with various theories as to whose choice that is. -Even though Harry has had the trip scheduled for ages, he's not going to give the 28-days notice needed to get full-scale public security in place for him, and he will subsequently use all paparazzi encounters during the trip as proof that his bespoke security arrangement is inadequate. -William DGAF and is not going to see Harry or make any polite excuses about it either. I can respect William for not faffing around about this the way Charles and Harry are.

Major LOL at the "William DGAF" comment. He refuses to be part of the saga any longer--just count him out indefinitely.
One additional storyline:
- Even though Harry has had the trip scheduled for ages, Meghan will enjoy leaving everyone hanging on whether or not she plans to accompany him, only to definitively bow out a week or two in advance.
At least we haven't heard much from Scobie lately. I assume his most recent book didn't sell like hotcakes.

it's been pretty widely reported that Meghan is NOT going to the UK for this trip (not leaving anybody hanging) while she will join him in Nigeria later in the month. Express article with this info

It's become a standard procedure for Harry's PR to plant articles along the lines of "Harry's extended an olive branch, but his family refuses to engage and continues to be horrible." We've got two new pieces referencing this brief. Why Won’t the Royals Support Prince Harry’s Invictus Games?Prince Harry is offering an olive branch to royal family — but not getting much response"Sources" have been deployed by camp Sussex to plant these stories. Harry doesn't genuinely want to make peace. He needs publicity for Invictus, and having a big moment of perceived "reconciliation" with his family, even getting one member to attend, would get major headlines. And when they fail to take them up on the offer, he can then use their refusal to get headlines. So in short, he doesn't care about reconciling, because if he did it would start with genuine, private apologies. Not planting stories about olive branches being refused. And he wouldn't use his family to plug his initiative. Invictus definitely needs a PR reset because the whole thing has become Meghan's personal fashion week. Her prancing around in a series of designer outfits, coupled with Harry using Invictus "olive branches" to whack at his family has taken the focus off of where it should be - veterans.

Express article with this infoThat article is from two days ago, which I think makes my point, no? Harrys' trip is next week, but it's been scheduled for much longer than that. I believe Meghan likes the speculation about whether or not she will attend so won't say one way or another until pretty much the last minute. It's been her modus operandi for a while now. Either she's super indecisive or she's playing games.

Her prancing around in a series of designer outfits, coupled with Harry using Invictus "olive branches" to whack at his family has taken the focus off of where it should be - veterans. I'm sure Harry knows that it would really add cachet to have his father or brother show up, and I'm sure the people who actually run things behind the scenes lament the fact that they no longer get that level of public support. Invictus kind of got screwed when Harry left the firm and dragged the organization with him, because now no one else in the family will have anything to do with it. It was a great initiative that became a victim of circumstance. Meanwhile, Harry is a bit of a loose cannon who is doing a quasi-royal tour in Nigeria related to that country's desire to host the games. Neither the UK nor the US is encouraging travel to Nigeria right now. I think getting more involved with Invictus would be a risk for the royals, for any number of reasons including legitimizing Harry's continued blurring of the lines between royal and private life.

If Invictus was doing well then the Sussexes wouldn’t want the Royal Family anywhere near it. There would be complaints of the Royals stealing the Sussexes thunder and “using” the games to further their own agenda etc etc.
During the last games there were lots of pictures of empty arenas and suddenly “sources” are squawking to the press about how it’s such a SHAME that Harry’s family can’t come out to support Harry’s charity. I guess the Sussexes are finally realizing they aren’t the draw they thought they were.
I’d love to know how much Invictus gets dinged for Harry & Meghan’s private jets, luxury hotels and spending because it sure looks like a way for these two to live large and promote themselves on their donors dime.
Harry couldn't be bothered doing any promotion for the Netflix Invictus series. Looks like Meghan won’t be going to this Invictus event in the UK because heavens knows London is way too dangerous for her without armed police….. but somehow his family not showing up is the issue? These 2 seem to do the bare minimum and only when it suits / benefits them and now they are flailing around looking for others to blame for their failing fortunes.

Aren’t these events for veterans formerly or currently members of the British Armed Forces that served their ( Queen) now King, Charles can have a pass he’s sick but it’s just petty and churlish of William to snub the event because he hates his brother. Not the best example of leadership for his future as Commander and chief of the British armed forces. Isn’t it the first time anything related to the games is back in the UK. To completely ignore it is childish. No other member of the royal family has ever attended Invictus events apart from the games themselves. This is Harry's patronage, and he has always led the patronage on his own and attended related events on his own. Meghan does not usually attend non-games related events either, nor is she attending this one. You can call that "snubbing" it too. If Harry actually invited his family this event, which is a rumor, he did so for his own personal reasons, not because their attendance is best for the cause. Given that the biggest ongoing news story about the royal family is Harry's estrangement, Charles or William attending this event would do nothing but overshadow the event.

I suspect she's just never going to go back, except for maybe when Charles passes some day. She doesn't seem interested, and England doesn't seem interested in having her, so that's a match made in heaven.

They just hired a PR spin doctor to help them with their low favorables in Britain LINKAnd I'm old enough to remember how they wanted a sweet balcony moment with their children during the Coronation. If she wanted nothing to do with England, she wouldn't add "Duchess of Sussex" to the jam and have a royal cipher as a floor mat in their home.
